Install Folder or File for Replacement Cars?!

  • Hi Experts,

yet again, i decided to play the cool story, but this time as realistic as possible.
so i decided to replace the cars in the game by some real existing ones... very happy to have found this place with so many excellent downloads!!

    But, question:
in the readme files of all the cool cars there often are written different places, where i have to replace the existing car.

I am fine with the root folder and the "x64i" File... but many times i should replace cars in the "Grand Theft Auto V\update\x64\dlcpacks" Folder...
So, can anyone tell me, which is the right spot to replace the cars for the story mode?

The reason why i am asking is:
i do have the feeling that many cars i tried to replace do not work in the game properly (though i sticked to the readme).

Thanks in advance fpr your help

    Bye
    SirBlack

@SirBlack79 put them in your most recent patchday folder

  • @SirBlack79 search for all models and you can replace all of them or as @Reacon mentioned most recent dlcpack. Take care also on the rpf folders size if you are going to replace a lot of vehicles. Limit is somewhere about 3.4 GB but best is keep them under 2.5GB if it's possible

  • Hi,
and thx a lot for your hints...

... tried it in the latest DLC Folder... didnt work out... Cars are still the Vanilla Ones!

Then i tried to replace the models in the "x64e" File... and when i start the game:
--> the Launcher starts the updater and it loads the old "x64e" file.

I did not update too many cars... the "vehicles.rpf" in "x64e" File had a size of 700MB before and 1100MB after editing... so the filesize seems no problem.

It seems i am making something severely wrong! :(

    Question:
when i edit a file, then OpenIV gives me a hint that the edited file is not in the mods Folder and if i want to move it there... shall i do that to get it to work?

Thx for your held again! ;)

    Bye

Yes you should always copy to the mods folder when that prompt is given. Not necessarily to get it to work, but to keep your vanilla files untouched in case you want to go online or if you just make a mistake and need the original files.

  • Thanks for your hints... it was the Mods Folder where i had to put the edited files... then it was working...well until the game crashed, but that seems to be an incompatibility on some mods... :(

    Thx anyway guys

    SirBlack

  • @SirBlack79 everytime keep all your changes in Mods folder to have vanilla copies without need download whole game again.

Lot of models are not compatible with missions or with another models, it's normal coz every modder should work with thousands other mods to make it compatible with everything, so it's on you to find which are compatible or make them compatible with mods that you are using (:
