ReShade Crashing My Game
-
My problems started when I wanted to play GTA again after a while.
I had Redux & Reshade working perfectly on my game before, and the only error I made was I forgot to disconnect from the internet before starting up the launcher.
So the update for the latest version of GTA started and I quickly closed out of it, and disconnected from the internet & tried starting it up again.
The game crashed when it booted up, and since then, I've been trying to get Reshade to work on my game ever since.
I've tried downgrading my version of the game, removing all mods, running the .dll through a separate injector, changing the game's compatibility to an older version of Windows etc.NOTHING WORKS
Then I remembered I made a backup folder with the reshade files & I included a text document in case I ever had to install reshade again.
So I tried doing what I wrote in the text document, & the most common solution which was just to rename all the "dxgi" files to "d3d11" which apparently worked for me before.
But now whenever I do that, ReShade isn't detected at all, and it's as if I never had it installed.(Redux works fine btw, from my deductions it's literally just Reshade that's giving me problems,
but I don't want to play the game without it.)

First of all - what is your launcher version?
Second, from my own experience, graphics mods need to be compatible with the game version you are using. So, if you have game version 1.6043, you need to look for, say, VisualV that runs with 1.6043.
Since you haven't played gta for a long time, my call is that an update, or some portion of it, has sneaked into your game directory and this is why you experience some difficulties.

@TheMurderousCricket My launcher version is the latest one. I've tried downgrading & seeing if it will work again but it doesn't.
Barely anybody else seems to have reported problems with getting ReShade to work with the latest version of GTA V, so I don't think it has to do with the versions of either being incompatible.
Lastly, that was my first guess, that part of the update got into my files. This is why (as I explained) I've uninstalled, and downgraded, and made sure I was using all the same versions before I opened the game again, but still ReShade crashes my game.
I am so lost on what to do from here, and anybody else I've asked seems to be as well, as anything they've suggested I've tried & it doesn't work.

Hmm, still, this looks like a version incompatibility to me.
If you're running the Casino update version, get Reshade version for that game build.
If you are sure that both are dead-on compatible, it might be a sign that it is some other mod that is crashing your game. Maybe another graphics mod?

@TheMurderousCricket What part leads you to believe that it's version incompability? Not saying you're wrong, just curious.
I got all the latest files & checked to see if they're compatible with the Casino update 1737 (they are).
I've learned that it is simply ReShade crashing the game, I've done multiple clean installs of the game & only used ReShade & it crashes just the same. I also tried using it in other "compatible" games, and it crashes.

Rubbish
Reshade is game version independent. Its only concern is are you running a DX9/DX10/DX11 executable
@marshy2 if you're also crashing in other games it's def something you are doing wrong in installing or setting it up
FYI I even run an old Reshade v1. 1.0 /w SweetFX on V without any problems

Well, it's that any graphics mod I have ever used has always been dependent on the version and if I forgot to update those I was crashing two seconds into the game...

...but apparently it's not the same with Reshades.

Well I can totally confirm that I am running the latest version, and have tried using older versions as well, but nothing seems to work with it.
