[Consolidation Thread] - Be aware of issues with 09.17.2019 R* Launcher Update
-
FYI, Today's update does not require new ScriptHook* stuff, but it does install a new piece of bloatware, which is the new Rockstar launcher. When I tried to start the game, I got this error:
Fortunately, I recalled having a commandline.txt file in my GTA V root, denoting offline mode only (just to prevent me from accidentally going Online). Short story: new launcher doesn't like that. So, if you had one, like me, just remove it, as it's not just a one-time thing: the new launcher will simply continue to throw errors when you put it back.
In other words, today's update was blatant way to always force a login from you, whenever you play.
-
Not only that, now I have to wait.... press a fucking button.... and wait some more..
I used to be able to just do other stuff while waiting. Now I have to walk all the way back to my damn computer, press the button, and get back to the laundry.
-
My game now crashes on loading. And I have no idea why......
-
@DanielStance Yea mine did that too.
I had multiple GTA folders for switching between (original for online and when a patch came out, mods, enb testing etc.)
It now requires the PlayGTAV.exe in your GTA folder, which only one has but you have to copy it to the others (i guess).
-
@tk0wnz I only have one GTA folder (Steam), and it has PlayGTA.exe in it.
I really dont understand why its crashing.
-
@DanielStance Try uninstalling the old rockstar social club
-
my god... I cant update my game, if i do that, i will have problems with my mods.
I update my original gta folder... Im thinkng about copy playgta in the other folder. What do u thinh?
-
@tk0wnz after some testing it seems like the issue is from mods. Because when i disable ASI Loader from OpenIV (which makes the game not load modded RPF archives) the game no longer crashes.
So, now the issue is.. WHAT mod is causing the crash, and how to fix?
-
@DanielStance is likely is menyoo. It is with problem in new update
-
@SkorpionOFICIAL this update that came just now? Because it worked fine before this.
-
@SkorpionOFICIAL nope, works just fine with this version (If you got it from github)
-
@SkorpionOFICIAL I think it's more than just Menyoo.
-
guys, i didnt need to update my mods folder. I just copied playgta from my original folder that i updated. Hope this help you
-
so steam forced me to install this piece of s*t and i ve tryed having 2 issues, one glitch with no respondoing mouse when im in the program so i have to use tab and enter or space and when i press play the rsc says that i have to launch game via playgta.exe... so what should i do now? i thought i only had to install this thing and everything normal again
-
@SkorpionOFICIAL if you read my posts again, I only have ONE (1) GTA V folder..
-
Okay, I got rid of the crashing. For me it helped to re-install this in mods folder.
-
@DanielStance I wasnt talking with you, rude person.
I was alerting others
-
@SkorpionOFICIAL only you are rude here, "rude person".
-
Now I got another update, both in steam and in OpenIV.
-
@DanielStance hey mate, my game is telling me that i need to launch game via playgtav.exe, i click it inside my gta 5 root directory but still the same error. do you know any fix? everything was fine before this damn update

Yep. After having removed the -scOfflineOnly line from commandline.txt, now I need to wait, and wait, and then press Story Mode again.
What a piece of fei-oo this update was! And to add insult to injury, now thay had the audacity to install yet another update!

No, that is extremely unlikely, as the gta5.exe (and this the Natives' offsets) hasn't changed. On my Steam version, the game and Menyoo ran just fine (just came from building in it for several hours). I'm not sure what the retail issues might be.
As for directory locations, don't mess with those. Instead, do what I do. For instance, I have 2 different custom maps locations (as some maps are at the same awesome locaton). To switch between them, I use Junctions, and 2 cmd files, like:
rmdir "I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\menyooStuff" mklink /j "I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\menyooStuff" "I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\menyooStuffB" rmdir "I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\CustomMaps" mklink /j "I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\CustomMaps" "I:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\CustomMapsB" pause
The same can be done for the GTA V root folder, of course: just rename it, and then use a cmd file to alternate between installs.
P.S. It remains to be seen, what with Rockstar's aggressive new Online checks, what will happen when you copy a backup of the current install over the new one, on the next update (pending SHV* updates and all). Steam kept the up-to-date info in its manifest files; but who know, the new Rock* launcher may not allow that any more. We'll see.

@meimeiriver Don't fret muh brother. Soon Unknown Modder will release his "Bypass R* Launcher mod"! Soon, very soon my friend, this will ALL be over!
-
It won't let me spawn/drive my add on cars...

The funny thing about this is if you read about the update on Steam, there's a line in there that makes it sound like we have a choice about it. "The imaginatively-named Rockstar Games Launcher lets you launch Rockstar Games games, and also buy them. Okay? And? Why would I want that? Well, Rockstar are hoping to tempt people to install it ... "
