[Consolidation Thread] - Be aware of issues with 09.17.2019 R* Launcher Update
-
I've been snooping around, tried to revert to the manifest before this crap, like it were an actual update, but no luck even with the bypass mod. But before I uninstalled that new R* launcher, I right clicked and checked out it's permissions allowed. I'm not that tech savvy, but it looked like it has a lot of control, and allowing that much control over the whole computer doesn't seem like a good idea. There's even a dang boxed check "Take Ownership". Am I just ignorantly overparanoid?

There's no doubt in my mind the new Rock* Launcher is an invasive piece of crap. Allegedly they said -scOfflineOnly functionality is going to be restored (STEAM forum), so that's at least something.
I never used any of the GTA Launcher bypass tools before, but way it looks now, I may very well start doing so when Unknown makes one.
EDIT: Here's Rockstar's official response to the offline stuff:
No Offline Mode for GTAV after installing the Rockstar Games Launcher
-
It looks like Rockstar support has finally gone completely mental:
- disable your Antivirus and Windows Defender
- Go to Documents\Rockstar Games and delete the Social Club folder
- Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ and delete the hosts file
- open Steam and right-click your game->Properties->Set Launch Options.
- Type -scOnlineOnly
1 is very bad advice!
2 Wrong, as you still need SC;
3 is downright malicious!
5 ONline only?! Online? I'm trying to decide whether that's funny or sad.
-
@chonkie probably why they included SA free to entice people into liking it

please use this thread for R* Launcher specific discussions

I have done the update and my scripthook is up to date but when i try to open the game it says that my scripthook needs updating.Pls help

I hate rockstar games as a company with every fiber of my being. They are the single greediest, most unscrupulous bunch of assholes I ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They made the framework of the best game in human history and turned it into one of the worst (GTAO) through sheer unmodulated greed. And continue even now to destroy what little redeemable value it had by screwing us out of our modded SP experiences, most certainly on purpose.
No, faggot assholes, we're not going to just play your disgusting, in-game phone-call shark-card pushing piece of crap GTAO because of this. We'll hack your shit until we're rid of your moneygrubbing influence!!!
-
@vellias506 That was already stated here, please look up that thread and the other on in these Theme section, it is going on my and mostly also on other nerves when people aren´t looking into other threads and just ask around <.<

There, there.
I think it behooves us to keep a little perspective. Update broke offline mode. Which, for starters, is a bit of a misnomer, as it sounds like they force you to play Online only now -- which is not the case. All we really got, were a few extra splash screens, and the need to manually press 'Story Mode' now. Slightly annoying, but absolutely no big deal, really. Especially since they promised to fix the no-offline mode bug; which they promptly did, the very next day even (!).
Sadly, the update to the update broke SHVDN et al. Bit of a bummer, but if you just restore the gta5.exe from the first update, then you can merrily play on, like before.
Also, ppl, just make backups! If even you don't want to backup your entire game, just copy GTA5.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe, and maybe your update.rpf file. This will save you a lot of headache for the next time.

@ReNNie is this the thread?

@DanielStance which version are you using when you install it

Hi after the launcher update it now tells me Scripthook V is out of date. The question is how long do we have to wait for it to be updated? I am new to this. Thankyou!
-
For those who don't want to wait for a new Scripthook version and who are on Steam, look at downgrading your game version. There is a Steam Community Guide on this if you use Google to search for 'downgrade steam game version'.
I don't know how strict this site is so I don't want to just paste what to do in your Steam Console, but on steamdb you want the Depot that contains GTA5 and GTA5Launcher (when you click a Depot the Files will show) and the Manifest from 4 days ago should work.
As I hadn't backed up those files myself I couldn't just copy them over as some suggest, but doing that I was able to download the older (1737.0) files and boot up GTAV with all my mods. I don't know how stable the game is this way as I haven't played much, but it's something.
-
I suggest adding a new word to the English dictionary:
Rockstar (plural; -s)
n.
1.Someone unscrupulous and greedy.
2.A greedy person. Especially one who enjoys being a nuissance at the same time.
Example 1: "Richard didn't even pay for my coffee - he's such a rockstar".
Example 2: "The prime minister pulled out a rockstar of his own today when he cheerfully declared he will be increasing tax rates".
-
I have an idea that Rockstar should listen to. What if they made gta Online a separate .exe file. Meaning that would be the only File that would be updated. Then the single player would not be tounched. Because lets be fair any update that comes to gtav is for the online part of the game anyway.

Update Ready Alert

offline Mode seems to be fixed It seems that, with that new Launcher and every current Update for GTA + signing in on the GTA Launcher, you need to first: play it while connected to the Internet: You need to be online the first time the launcher starts... i would go as far as to go into the campaign while online, close the game and try to go into the offline Mode. Seems to work, but it also seems to be for Steam user, who are able to downgrade their game...
-
Okay, now that I have a proper WiFi, I can finally speak out my mind.
Guys, I think one thing is certain - we are at war. Again...
In the past, Fake Poo Entertainment and Cockstar Games failed at their attempt to close down Open IV. They lost this war.
Now, however, they are fighting a proxy-war. The new updates and the latest launcher are their proxies.
If we are to win this second war, we need something more than just a launcher bypass.
We need both a launcher bypass AND an UPDATE BYPASS so that we can block Cockstar's updates once and for all! Once we have that, we will have our game copies work in any version that we please. No more mandatory crap - this should be the current course for this community and, as a matter of fact, our battlecry.
I don't know the first thing about programming. But I can tell you one thing - I will always support this community in any possible way I can and in any capacity I am able to!
So, dear community, admins, programmers, gamers. It doesn't matter whether you are Trevor, Michael, MP avatar, LSPD:FR's Officer Hightower, Lieutenant Columbo or GTA's rendition of Hulk - please support each other, and keep stiff upper lip. We will make it! It's only a matter of time before we find a counter to this menace!
-
I second this
-
@vellias506 yep, same here. I even didn't notice any update going through. I was playing the game 2 days ago and today I can't start it because of the same error. Although, when I start OpenIV it doesn't asks to copy the new game data or anything....
-
GTA V Players: Look at this incredible realm of free content we've made for each other!
Rockstar: AW HELL NAW!! Get back in GTAO and use our "free DLCs" which are all clearly designed to encourage you to be cancerous dicks to each other and buy infinite shark cards so you can keep up with the endless stream of increasingly ridiculous and overpowered "content" we release.
GTA V Players:
-
Exactly what I wish for @VoxR.
-
@VoxR Completely agree with this lol. I would rather play single player with mods. Then Play the Pay to win Trash that is Gta Online!
-
I've been watching for about 5 days now and no update. i am still patiently waiting as i have a few other games i can play at the moment but this new R* update actually is some trash. Free SA is a plus..but a launcher that essentially broke offline mode altogether (even though they stated themselves it was not a "bug". Also breaking scripthookV as every update does by R* , but this one really has a grip.
It will be bypassed no doubt but they need to just stop this nonsense with a launcher and constant crappy updates and half-assed re-skinned DLC cars and events for online. Even the casino update was still MEH. They need to go focus else where and leave GTA5 alone. Let the modding community take that shit over.
I haven't even played Read Dead 2, loved the first one, so they should probably focus a bit on that as well as GTA6...
