My game crashes after playing for 20-40 minutes

  • Hello, I'm running the Rockstar Games Launcher version of GTA V (1.0.1737.6) and my game crashes after playing for about 30 minutes. I had a completely unmodded, vanilla game and here's what I installed using OpenIV:

    I'm using this gameconfig file.

    Here's my asiloader.log.

    Also, here are my specs:

    • GeForce GTX 1080, 8 GB

    • Intel Core i5-8600K

    • DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX, 2 x 8 GB, 3000 MHz, CAS 15

I run the game on Windows 10 (64).

  • @Allez100dreau try to move out your mods folder, if crashes stop we know t2he problem is in any of car mod. After that I would recommend try spawn each model and drive with it for few minutes at the point you have just few of them.

At the point the game don't crash while driving any of them, the question is if it's addon or replace vehicles.

If replace, problem could be in meta files and problem is when that cars spawn in traffic so you should try to check if meta was replaced right or set up all of them don't spawn in traffic. If all vehicles are addon, then I'm out of ideas :grimacing:

  • @ArmaniAdnr Thank you for your answer. I moved the mods folder away and the game works fine. Again, the crashes occur when I'm at least 30min in but I think it's all good.

For replacement cars, yes, I've replaced the Carbonizzare with this car and the Infernus with this one. But I've seen them spawning in traffic and the game didn't crash at that moment.

I moved back the mods folder, tried spawning vehicles, driving them, nothing happened until I drove to the desert. Once I got there, Trevor called me (I was playing with Michael) for some train mission or something. After the first ring, the game crashed. So I did the same thing, again, and the game crashed at the exact same point. Any ideas?

  • @Allez100dreau so crashes continues after you deleted mods folder?

If you saw them spawned in traffic that spawning should be ok.

  • @ArmaniAdnr No, I moved away mods folder, the game worked fine, then I moved back mods folder and the game crashed at the moment I described in my previous post. Should I try going in the desert without having mods folder?

  • @Allez100dreau ok, yep try to repeat same situation as was during crash but without mods folder. If it don't crash, any of mods is causing it. Do you have only vehicle mods or any other as textures, shops or anything what could be in desert?

  • @ArmaniAdnr Ok, so I did replicate the situation without mods folder and it didn't crash, I hung up and I was able to play the mission. Beside the car mods, I have installed this. Nothing particular or related to the desert.

  • @Allez100dreau hmm, so no other replaced vehicles except that two which you seen spawned in traffic?

  • @ArmaniAdnr Nope, just these two. The rest of the vehicles are add-ons.
I downloaded a 100% completed save and went to the "crash-triggering" point and the game didn't crash, so the Trevor mission is related to the problem I think. (Sorry I can only post every 10 minutes)

  • @Allez100dreau which one mission it is? write me the title of the mission please

  • @ArmaniAdnr The mission is "Sidetracked".

  • I can only guess but maybe it has something to do with the Visual V Mod. You said that the crash happens, when you arrive in the desert and Trevor calling you.

    From the comments:
Michaels house, franklin house and even trevor’s trailer has missing Textures. Don’t know if it’s affiliated with this Mod, but it’s a good guess considering I have zero other mods that change visuals.
The mod also seems affects some areas.

There is a folder with backup files in the zip file, if you dont have a copy from your original files.
You can open the .oiv file with winrar and look into the assembly.xml which files to replace. Sometimes oiv files contain old data which differs to new versions.

But before you change something its highly recommend to have a copy of the original files.

Thats only my thoughts i dont know this mod.

  • @Justme2000 Thanks for the answer, I'll have a look. I just played ~1h on the 100% save and nothing occured, so weird.

  • Then i wish good luck :)

Found also this troubleshooting with your natural vision mod if you activated those parts.

"CAUTION: Advanced motion blur is not compatibile with NaturalVision Remastered scripts (game doesn't allow to use more than one timecyc modifier using natives)"

  • @Allez100dreau I don't see mission with that title in missions nor in strangers and freaks tasks

  • @Justme2000 Nope, didn't activate that.

  • @ArmaniAdnr https://www.google.com/search?q=gta+5+mission+sidetracked&rlz=1C1CHBF_deDE860DE860&oq=GTA+5+mission+side&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0l5.4477j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Google is your Friend, Armani :D I´ve had the same problem but for me, I just drove into a Single Point and the game crashed. ALSO it seems than OpenIV crashes the Game everytime i´m installing the ASI Plugins through the ASI Manager so it also could be a problem there. Is your Game also Crashing after Closing the Game, @Allez100dreau ? It only happens with the new Rockstar Game Launcher so it could be because of the missing update from Open IV... i think the last one was 2018

  • @Deathmatic wow can you explain me how to start replay of mission ingame using google? :eye: I want to replay mission to test mentioned VisualV which I'm aswell using + check if that mentioned 2 replaced cars are not used in that mission.

about your asi loaders installation crashes, you have to have quit game, hope you are not installing during playing. Coz I have no problem with installing anything throught OpenIV and OpenIV is just tool.

  • @ArmaniAdnr Can´t replace while gaming, already tried it, so that´s not the Problem :D It works just fine without the ASI Plugins... if I´m uninstall those through OpenIV, i am able to Play without Problems. I´ve downloaded the Vanilla GTA 5 Game and made a Vanilla Mod folder... Same Problem, crash after Ending the Game... as long as it stays that way, there shouldn´t be a Problem, though.

And: You only said "I don´t see a mission with that title in missions"... well, that Mission exists, like you can see :D :P

  • @Deathmatic No, the game doesn't crash after closing it.

  • I've had good luck having -scOfflineOnly in the commandline.txt file when playing the modded story mode. I went from crashing ~20 minutes into the game to rock solid stability for 4 hours straight before I quit to do something else.
