Can't add more than 23 addons, even with a custom Gameconfig

  • Hello!

I've been struggling for months with this issue.
I used to have a tad more than 400 modded cars in GTA V, and after reinstalling Windows and reinstalling the game, I can't get it to have any more than 23 addons (I've tried multiple different addons, none work after the 23 mark).
I only have the Simple Trainer and Native trainer mod as well as what is required to make them work (AsiLoader, ScripthookV, ScripthookVDotNet).

So, as usual, I change the gameconfig (in the mods folder) to this one https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars,
drop the heap limit adjuster (https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/heap-limit-adjuster-600-mb-of-heap) and packfile limit adjuster (https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/packfile-limit-adjuster) into the root of the game, but it doesn't seem to be working.
I also tried this gameconfig (https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gameconfig-xml-dilapidated) but got the same dissapointing results.
I then tried the alternative heap adjuster (https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/heapadjuster) with no success.

Also tried reinstalling the most recent .NET framework 4.8, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019, again, with no success.

Basically, the game crashes during startup (after selecting "Solo mode") and shows no error message (apart from the generic "GTA V has exited unexpectedly")...

I really ran out of ideas on this one. Does anyone have a suggestion to offer?

I'm running GTA V's latest version.

  • 2 600 views and no reply... well I guess I'm not the only one that ran out of ideas! xD

  • @DrTakumi Try a different combination of cars. I've had 17 addon cars on the vanilla gameconfig before I quit trying to see it's limits, but it was also on the 1604.1 game version. Add one and test it in game. If no issues, add another and test. If one that you added causes a crash, remove it and try a different one. There were many cars that would cause a crash, even being only a few cars in to this process. So it could just be one specific car you added that is crashing the game.

You really should try combining them into one dlc. But don't go over a certain dlc file size, i can't remember what that size is right now, something like 3.5gb, there are tutorials on this subject.

I use the above process of finding which cars i can add without a gameconfig or combining dlc's, then i take that group of good cars and combine them. That way my combined dlc shouldn't have issues, since I've tested adding each car individually. Just my theory.

  • @chonkie Hey! Thanks for the response!

Sadly I already tried this; I added the cars one by one and after a certain number, no matter what car I added, the game wouldn't launch.

Currently I'm playing the game with those 23 addons and it works fine, but if I add a 24th it'll blow up in my face.

Your response did give me a new idea though, I'll try it out and I'll explain if it does work. Thanks again!
