Rockstar Games Launcher ruined everything

  • I haven't played GTA V in a while, and recently I went to play it again, and seeing as it updated again since I last played it, I did the usual that I do when it updates (copy over the new dlclist entries, copy the new dlcpacks, copy over the new version.txt, all that), which usually works. However, they've now thrown in the Rockstar Games launcher, and that's ruined everything. If I try reverting to the last supported Rage plugin hook version (1737.0) then I just get stuck on "launching game", and if I try starting the game through the launcher, I get an error code 7002.1 that tells me to verify game cache (which I don't want to do because it will replace all of the modded game files I have), and if I try launching through steam it just brings me to the Rockstar Launcher and we have the previous issue all over again, and if I try uninstalling the launcher and starting through steam, it gives me an error saying it can't start the game because the Rockstar Launcher is not installed. Essentially, is there any way I can ever play modded GTA V again, or is modding ruined for good?

@Spagoot considering the launcher came out a while ago and this site still exists, maybe that could've gave you a clue. RPH is compatible with the launcher as well most major mods so just try updating everything

  • @Reacon Okay, sorry, I just got back into this and freaked out a bit. How would I go about updating everything? I already updated the things I mentioned is there more I have to update? Also, do I need to go through the Rockstar Launcher every time I play now?

  • MODERATOR

@Spagoot you can still start it from the icon steam made im sure, just make sure everything is the most recent version, verifying game cache if need be for original files

  • Will verifying game cache replace modded files? like the ones I've replaced in OpenIV?

  • MODERATOR

@Reacon add a \ after the @ and in front of a name starting with a special character

  • MODERATOR

@_Spagoot_ as long as you use a mods folder, no

PS thanks @ReNNie for the heads up

  • Okay, thank you. When you say "update everything", what do you mean by everything? Sorry for all the questions, it's just been a while since I've done this.
