Fire Starter Mod or Fire Script....

  • Anyone got info on a good fire starting mod or script for single player that does not require OIV? I've seen them on Roleplaying servers for FiveM. Just wondering if anyone has any clue on this. 5Mods has zip so anyone knowing of where I can get this any tips are appreciated.

  • @iammistahwolf Been looking for good fire scripts myself. But why not oiv?

  • Can't use OIV with my current set up. I have a pretty strong laptop, but the main drive is an SSD too small to put games on and the OS. I've got all my games on a separate drive. OIV won't allow it to be loaded onto anything but the C: drive (which is a PIA) so I can't use it. Lots of modders are in the same position and it's kind of annoying when people assume everyone uses OIV. Until I get another setup OIV isn't an option. Surely there's a 'regular mod' for making fires in single player?

  • @iammistahwolf You can open the oiv files and install them manually. Just double click the oiv in your winrar

  • @PsiBurner Thanks. How does one do that 'manually?' I've looked around and no one has been particularly helpful as they always end up saying, 'just get OIV'. Don't have 'winrar' and am not looking to buy it from some dodgy website. I see the free version is for 40 days. Not feeling that either. Even if I do get it, how and where does one install the files manually?

  • @iammistahwolf Winrar is a requirement, just download the english version. Winrar isnt dodgy, its a popular program and actually keeps you safer when downloading files online. You need openIV and Winrar if you want to mod the game. And its free forever, even though it says 30/40 day free trial it continues to let you use it.

  • bur587, I downloaded winrar last night. Can't make hide nor tail of how it works. I'm pretty good at figuring out stuff, but this is kicking my butt. Thanks for the heads up on it 'still working after the trial period.' As I told Psiburner I can't use OIV because it won't install on any drive but C:. I use a separate larger drive for gaming. Anyway, he mentioned being able to 'manually' install files w/o OIV and as I said, 'no one's been forthcoming about how exactly to do that.' There's a dodgy workaround for tricking OIV to thinking alternate drives are C:, but it's not worth the trouble if I can just do it manually. I've trawled through dozens of videos and links. No one I found just comes out and says how to mod manually. As for 'not being able to mod w/o OIV' that's not true. I'm good at building sets for scenes using various trainers particularly Menyoo. If I can learn how to install files manually, that would let me do a whole lot more than what I can now.

  • @iammistahwolf Like Psi said earlier, just double click the download, and for the most part the files will be right there. Some more complex mods you might have to open more folders to get to the files you need, and they will have more stuff for you to move around and place in to appropriate location. You don't even need to do it in winrar. I just do it all from my downloads folder. I do have winrar set to be the program that is used to open all .rar files.

Here are some example pics of the oiv of a car I just downloaded for this example. It's probably the easiest thing to start out with. Hopefully I captured the progression of opening folders well enough.

This last pic shows the dlcpack folder that you would add to your dlcpacks and then you would just need to add that folder's name to your dlclist.

  • @iammistahwolf Here's an example of a more complicated oiv that is for Grand Theft Space, which I install manually because the oiv overwrites my dlclist completely and only adds in space1ng and space2ng while removing all the other dlc's. With this mod, you have to move the two asi's and the ini to your root folder, move the stuff from the scripts folder to your scripts folder, move the two dlcpacks from the update folder to your dlcpacks, and add their dlclist lines.
