Changing Explosion Textures


  • Ive been playing and seeing mods of gta v for the past 4 years and i still havent seen any single explosion texture mod in the history of gta v modding. Is it possible?

    that isnt me in the pfp, thats a random dude from google lmao

    There have been a few :thumbsup:

    I use 'FX EFFECTS 7.0' (not sure it exists anymore?! Perhaps changed name but can't find it) as a base for my own visual tweaks. There were a few others I've tested out too over the years.

    The explosion ptfx textures are located in 'core.ypt' here:

    ...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\x64\patch\data\effects\ptfx.rpf\core.ypt
    ...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\x64\patch\data\effects\ptfx_hi.rpf\core.ypt
    ...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\x64\patch\data\effects\ptfx_lo.rpf\core.ypt

    Any mod that has 'core.ypt' in it will have undoubtedly edited the ptfx textures in some way (unless the file is there by mistake).

    If you do a focused 'core.ypt' search of gta v mod sites like this you might find something.

    Hint: There's at least 2 explosion texture mods in that link :thumbsup:
