Gun Sound Modding [Help]

So i decided to change the sound for the desert eagle. Everything is in good shape my audio file was a WAV , its in the weapons.awc in resident.rpf and weapons_player.rpf. its 44khz , its mono. And its going pretty well... when i imported it in the weapons.awc and (of course exporting the file with openformat and all that) and soon as i started the game and shoot it , it doesnt have a sound at all...just silent. PLEASE HELP me fellow modders
