A lot of work payed off. WOW (huge mod compilation)
-
@Spud I actually don't care about the shadows... at all.
-
heres mine... yayyyy!
-
@Weirdoutworld so when openiv gives option of using mods folder it is in best interest to allow this. So then after I've done that..... Is it best to copy the entire GTA v root to the mods folder or just certain folders and rpf's?
And if the above is correct (or partially correct) based on my interpretation of it, does the scripts folder also have to go into the mods folder or does it stay in the root folder?
Sorry if I'm sounding like a ponce but it's just I don't want to risk breaking game or confusing anything.
-
@Weirdoutworld I just want to apologise for my part in derailing your thread... I thought it might help you understand why I usually talk negative about these things, if you could see my preferences on screen so to speak... I didn't anticipate it turning into a screenshot thread... sorry.
If you want me to delete my photos, I am more than happy to do so... this is your thread after all.
-
@Akila_Reigns I have just tried every shadow setting possible and I can't get any better than the ones I have shown. I presume you have better shadows, so could you share with us how you get them please?
Just as a point of reference, that picture was taken with High Resolution and Long Shadows on (I didn't actually realise they were on), and the sharpness set to Soft. So I am obviously missing a setting that makes them better.
I knoiw I have expressed my concerns about derailing this thread but the solution to get better shadows would be of benefit to those people striving for perfection, so I think it would add to the thread, not further derail it.

@LeeC2202 You are the one who said not to take this thread off topic, all right, I'll try to take a side mirror screenshot after few hours, I'm not at home right now.
-
@Weirdoutworld Thanks for the pics. The textures are looking awesome! But photorealistic is something like this: Toddyhancer
More pictures here.
Or REDUX
But I love how your game looks now.
-
@Akila_Reigns I know but I thought most people were using soft shadows, so if there is a better way to get good shadows, it might be something Weirdoutworld might be interested in as well. That's all I am meaning.
Maybe we can help him get his ultimate GTAV... as compensation for us turning his mod thread into a screenshot thread.
Edit Nevermind... I found one you posted on the 4th page of the screenshots thread, a silver RUF.
-
@LeeC2202 It was raining when I captured it.
Which means shadows will be blurred. Are you trying to tell me that I'm a liar or something?😑😑
-
@Akila_Reigns You were going to post a picture, I found one, I was just trying to save you the trouble of taking more screenshots.
You seem to be getting a little perturbed... they're just shadows... don't get yourself in such a fluster over them.
-
@LeeC2202 I use Nvidia PCSS, best quality shadows, long shadows and high resolution shadows options.
That RUF's shadow was unrealistic, and I thought you were thinking that I was lying about my shadow options. Sorry. 😥
Well, it's 2:00 am here, you have fun with GTA V, I'm going to catch some z's. 😴
-
@LeeC2202 no apology necessary. I wanna see what other people are playing with.
But where is the action guys? Im seeing a lot of custom cars... I wanna see cops, explosions, bullets & blood screenshots!
When I said Photorealistic, I meant some of the texture quality. I was wrong to mislead yall.

@RDC74656 scipts stay. OIV mod packages will automatically copy the needed rpf's to your mods folder. ALWAYS use/select mods folder.
-
@RDC74656 OpenIV has some great tutorials here and on youtube.
MAKE A COMPLETE BACKUP. Just incase.
I keep a fresh install on my usb flash drive that has saved me more than omce from having to reinstall the whole game.
-
@Frazzlee nice!
-
@Akila_Reigns No, it was just that I had tried all those options and I couldn't get it to be much better on my game than in those screenshots... I just couldn't work out what I was missing. I already had long shadows and high-res shadows on.
Edit: Last picture, I promise. This is how PCSS shadows compare to Soft Shadows on my PC, does that look right to you? There seens so little difference.
-
@Weirdoutworld yeah I've found keeping a back-up helps.
So...... Been thinking and if I delete my GTA v folder.
Use the back-up I've just mentioned to have a fresh install.
Install scripthook and dotnet to this fresh install.
Set-up openiv and accept the mods folder.
Now do I install redux following the installation instructions TO THE LETTER as in create a second mods folder and copy the stated files and rpfs in the readme to the newly created mods folder (so, in theory I would have root directory with mods folder and then inside that mods folder would be stated files and rpfs as per installation readme and then a second mods folder.
Or do I just simply need the one mods folder and install redux to the root directory?
Wow I'm now confused?
By the way... I am in no way supporting the fact that redux contains stolen work. I'm hating that fact. I am simply using redux as it saves me messing around with enb and things that I have no idea about.
-
@RDC74656 There can only be one mods folder. All you have to do to have a new install is replace common.rpf, update folder & all x64(lettered).rpf's.
To be honest, You should really install VisualV first. use that as your "base of operations" because if you run into problems there is a LOT more support for VisualV than redux.
You'll be almost on your own trying to troubleshoot REDUX. Use files from redux to install into VisualV & experiment. There's only one way to get good at modding this game, that's to dive-in & experiment with different files.
Keep a log in notepad of what you install.

@Weirdoutworld Some of those textures do look excellent, the road ones especially... I'd be interested to see how some of them look in my game. I just don't fancy downloading several GB to do it.
I wish I could provide action shots but the game is like my day out now, I go for long walks in the country and drives round the coast. I'm a boring old fart in the game and not much different outside it.
-
@Weirdoutworld OK thanks appreciate the help ☺
I'll give all discussed a go and if..... Sorry... WHEN I run into problems, I'll create a topic regarding it. Hopefully you'll be on hand 😀
BTW screenshots.... EPIC!!!!

Is it a good idea to adjust in game graphics settings before adding a enb/sweetfx mod/preset?
-
@RDC74656 It depends on your taste and on your system. I like the vanilla graphics a lot, but I currently use an ENB+ Reshade preset, it enhances the draw distance and reflection. I can run the game in 4K with max settings combined with the ENB, solid 60 FPS.
VisualV is a great graphics mod.
And yes, you should check your graphics settings before installing one. But if you have more than 8GB RAM, and a GTX 960/970 or newer, don't even worry a little bit. Just install one. 😃
-
@Akila_Reigns So do you have any thoughts on my last comparison picture? I'm as confused as anything... I have no idea what else to change.
