Audio files for the ambient music at night (i.e the music you hear when walking around in Groove Street)

  • I have tried replacing some files in Grand Theft Auto V\mods\x64\audio\sfx\STREAMED_AMBIENCE.rpf\ but they dont seem to be used, any ideas on how to fix this?

  • @autosh0t
Just covering all the bases here. Ignore anything you already know

    Music:
The muffled ambient musical sounds in Grove St are definitely in:

    ...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\x64\audio\sfx\STREAMED_AMBIENCE.rpf

You can test this by making a backup of 'STREAMED_AMBIENCE.rpf' & then use OpenIV to delete all 28 ''amb_music_loop_01>28.awc'' files completely (highlight > right-click > 'Delete').
Test in-game & they should be silent.

    Percussive Sound:
The only sound I can't track down is the sorta heartbeat like percussion sound that comes from the house on the North side of Grove St. I'm not sure where that resides. Had a good look/listen but couldn't find it :slight_frown:.

    Correct Procedure/Format:
Make sure you are using 'Export to openformats (.oac)' to export the original files using OpenIV & the correct format for your replacement '.wav' files (16-bit PCM mono .wav's).

Audacity is free & does it well.
'File' tab > 'Export' > 'Export as WAV' & select 'WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM' in the 'Save as type' dropdown before hitting '[Save]' & then '[OK]'
Replace the original '.wav' file in the exported folder (next to '.oac') & then drag & drop the '.oac' (created by using 'Export to openformats (.oac)') back into the original location in OpenIV to convert your replacement sound to '.awc'.

Any other issues or if you're not sure about anything, give us a shout
