Losing memory in game after about 25 add-on cars... please help.
-
I'm very new to modding, just FYI.
At around the 25 car mark, the game starts to lose memory fast. Everything starts to disappear and things are just floating around. It's extremely frustrating. I've only done add on cars. No replacements. There are no other scripts or custom maps loaded. I only have the cars and the persistence mod to save them. I've heard other people using 300 + added cars in their game. Why is mine losing memory at 25?
Here's everything I'm using...
- Vehicle persistence 1.3.2
- Latest ScriptHookV
- ScriptHookVDOTNET (2.10.9 had to use older version as the latest one would not work with peristence 1.3.2)
- Latest Map builder
- EnhancedTrainer
- Gameconfig 1.0.1868.0 (using base peds and traffic)
- Latest menyoo
Here are my PC specs
- GeForce GTX 970 with updated drivers
- i7 4790K CPU
- 16 GB Ram
I started out playing on ultra and very high with everything. Since the memory problem I went down to very high to high, and some things set to normal and I'm still having this problem. I've also reduced the ped pop and traffic to very low.
Can someone please help?

A few ideas:
Try removing Vehicles Persistence 1.3.2 temporarily (rename 'scripts' folder etc) & make sure no previously saved cars are still appearing on the map to see if you still have the issue? How many of your add-on cars have 4K textures in their '.ytd' files? If there are a few (especially if you are saving a lot persistently), export the 4K textures & convert them to 2K/1K before replacing the originals, or in the case of liveries, maybe delete some if there are a lot in one car etc.
Things disappearing is usually a texture streaming issue caused by overburdening the games engine with too many textures (especially big 4K ones). Most likely that or perhaps a memory leak in the Vehicles Persistence mod somewhere, or a background app you are running, would be my guess.

ok
im gonna be brutally honest here i have no idea how to do this.

you’ve heard of people using 300+ because they’re probably all combined into a few dlcpacks.
try using heaplimit adjuster and packfile limit adjuster

I take it you have OpenIV installed. If not, download it here. How to access & reduce vehicle textures size:
- In OpenIV head to your 'dlcpacks' folder here:
...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks - Go into the folder name of the vehicle you want to edit to find it's 'dlc.rpf'
Example:
...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\16challenger\dlc.rpf - File paths can vary from one add-on vehicle to the next but somewhere in the 'dlc.rpf' > 'x64' folder structure you will find a '.rpf' (usually 'vehicles.rpf' or 'vehicle-name-here-vehicles.rpf') that contains the vehicle's '.yft' (model) & '.ytd' (textures) files.
Example:
...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\16challenger\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles\16challengervehicles.rpf\16challenger.ytd - Open the '.ytd' with OpenIV (double-click/Enter) to view the textures
- The width & height of a highlighted texture (left panel) is displayed in the middle at the top of OpenIV's texture editor
- Look for any 4K (Width: 4096 Height: 4096) or larger textures & use the '[Export selected]' button (bottom left) to export them to a folder location of your choice.
Note: In the 'Save as' window, use the 'Save as type' dropdown to select the exported file type (.png/.dds/.bmp/.jpg etc). Go with '.png' if you don't know how to edit '.dds' files. - Open the exported '.png' texture with picture editing software of you choice (Photoshop/Gimp/Paint.net etc) & resize the texture to 1024x1024 (1K) or 2048x2048 (2K) before reimporting it/them back into it's/their original location using the '[Replace]' button (top right) in the OpenIV texture editor.
- Save the '.ytd' using the '[Save]' button (bottom right)
Do this for all vehicle '.ytd's that you find large textures in.
Alternatively, & if you know the name of the vehicle you intend to edit, just use Ctrl+F3 in OpenIV to search for the vehicle's '.ytd' by name:
Example: 'Ctrl+F3' > select 'Search in "mods" folder only' in dropdown > Search for '16challenger.ytd' etc in Search area > Open '.ytd' by double-clicking the file that appears or right-click for more options.
- In OpenIV head to your 'dlcpacks' folder here:
-
so did as you said and yes there was a few files in the 4960+ range which are all now set to 2048 or less haven't had time to run the game properly yet due to visitors but will try later another one for you though.
when i shoot someone or an object or car or any thing they fly off across the map as if they've been hit by a rocket can you shed any light on this one?
and yes i really am this stupid.

Perhaps a trainer setting? Go through the settings of whatever trainer you have installed & double-check them.weapons.meta:
There are 'Force' settings in the 'weapons.meta' files:<Force value="0.000000" /> <ForceHitPed value="120.000000" /> <ForceHitVehicle value="0.000000" /> <ForceHitFlyingHeli value="0.000000" /> <OverrideForces> <Item> <BoneTag>BONETAG_HEAD</BoneTag> <ForceFront value="70.000000" /> <ForceBack value="60.000000" /> </Item> <Item> <BoneTag>BONETAG_NECK</BoneTag> <ForceFront value="80.000000" /> <ForceBack value="60.000000" /> </Item> <Item> <BoneTag>BONETAG_SPINE2</BoneTag> <ForceFront value="150.000000" /> <ForceBack value="100.000000" /> </Item> </OverrideForces> <ForceMaxStrengthMult value="1.000000" /> <ForceFalloffRangeStart value="0.000000" /> <ForceFalloffRangeEnd value="50.000000" /> <ForceFalloffMin value="1.000000" /> <ProjectileForce value="0.000000" />
Have a look at them & make sure they are not set massively high etc.
- When & how did it start happening?
- Does it happen for all guns or just some?
Give me as much info as you can on it
