Invalid WAVE Audio format. Audio must be in PCM format
-
I found only ONE other forum post which says about this problem, but then everyone went off topic and the answer was never revealed, which is why I have made this new one.
I have tried to change the main siren file for the fire truck into a different one, but it says "Line 6320 Invalid WAVE Audio format. Audio must be in PCM format" also saying that one of the files have not been imported because of this, presumably because of this "PCM format" which seems to be a ghost online. I cannot find ANYTHING on it. I would really appreciate an answer. Thanks guys

Even worse! It is in a PCM format! WAV is a PCM format!

@SuperTriniGamer
Use Audacity (free) & export the audio like this:Audacity 'File' tab > 'Export' > 'Export as WAV' & select 'WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM' in the 'Save as type' dropdown before hitting '[Save]' & then '[OK]'

@a63nt-5m1th Thank you for the reply, though I've tried 16bit as well and it is not working. Still saying the same thing.

- PCM
- Mono
- 16 bit
& I think it needs to be the same length as the original or you just get silence in-game.
If you try an export using Audacity with the prerequisites above & it still fails, then there is something else going on, so worth trying just to rule it out, if you haven't already
.
I've played about editing the firetruck siren ('SIREN_FIRETRUCK_WAIL_01' etc) with various settings/effects/lengths, but can't repeat your error. The only time I had issue was when the file was longer than the original, resulting in a silent siren in-game.
If you want, you can upload your edited files to somewhere like mediafire & I'll download them & take a look if you're still having issues

@a63nt-5m1th Of course, I'd be more than happy to send you the link of the sound for you to get it to work. That would be amazing. I really don't know why it's giving so much trouble because the audio is shorter and smaller than the original sound file.

@a63nt-5m1th https://www.mediafire.com/file/o5z6wg9eeybeqt9/SIREN_PA20A_WAILsovietsiren.wav/file Here you go

With your 'SIREN_PA20A_WAILsovietsiren.wav' linked above I got the same OpenIV '.oac' import error as you.
vehicles.oac(Line 6320): Invalid WAVE Audio format. Audio must be in PCM format.
ANSWER IS HERE
:
I threw the '.wav' into Audacity & exported it as 'WAV (Microsoft) signed 16-bit PCM' & tried again & it worked (no '.oac' import error anyway, I never tested in-game)
You can get that 'SIREN_PA20A_WAILsovietsiren.wav' Audacity Export Here & try it in your game if you like

I'm having the same issue here with an audio file I'm trying to edit for a combat pistol. Did the issue here ever get resolved or is there still no answer?

@Corpsie
Answer is in post above yours.= <

i wasn't certain since it wasn't tested in-game, but i followed the same formula and got it working. i made a whole new topic about it like a dumb-ass instead of coming back here to confirm the result. I appreciate the @
