Dashboard way too bright on replaced cars.

  • Hi, I've noticed after replacing some cars that most of them have an intense light emiting dashboard which is very bright and annoying. Is there anyway to make it better, as in making it more dim?

Here's an image demonstrating said problem: https://gyazo.com/05d10d5490b59c1d40f83ce4bb32e44b

Been a while, but if I remember right, try reducing these values in 'visualsettings.dat':

    car.defaultlight.day.emissive.on	50.50
    car.defaultlight.night.emissive.on	10.50
    car.defaultlight.day.emissive.off	0.003
    car.defaultlight.night.emissive.off	0.003

    Quick/Easy:
Note: These values also affect the brightness of the police lightbar lights. You'll have to compromise one or the other doing it this way. The values above are the best compromise I could find in my game & probably a good starting point.

    Ideal Solution:
A better solution, but a lot more work & depending on vehicle textures, not always possible, is to open the vehicle's '.ytd', find the dash textures (if they exist) & darken them/reduce transparency etc so that the dash light can't shine through them so brightly. This will allow you to keep very bright police lightbar lights (like the ones in Radience V etc) without having to stare at the Sun everytime you drive.

Hope that helps somewhat. Any questions/issues, give me a shout

  • @a63nt-5m1th Thanks for the reply. I fixed it by replacing 'visualsettings.dat' in the mods folder with the vanilla one.

Turns out that I had replaced that same file with another one for a certain mod (though I do not remember what mod requires that) which in turn made emissive lights on cars brighter than the sun.
