Timecycle and weathers.xml : Darker nights ?

  • So I've installed QuantV (which is, btw, absolutely amazing, graphics and performance wise compared to the others), and i've realised that the nights are way too bright for my taste.

I've added the 'darker nights' optional add-on, but the tweaking on values is too little, and even while comparing the originals and 'darker nights' weathers.xml files, I'm struggling to find the real values that can affect drastically the natural lightning at night.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • @epoqx
These three values in the timecycle files:

    <postfx_exposure> -0.1500 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.1000 0.3000 0.1000 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 0.0000 -0.1500</postfx_exposure>
    <postfx_exposure_min> -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000 -3.5000</postfx_exposure_min>
    <postfx_exposure_max> 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000 5.0000</postfx_exposure_max>

'postfx_exposure' is the main one (easy to notice changes), & then use 'postfx_exposure_min/max' (far more subtle, use screenshots to compare) to tweak the min/max brightness range, if required.

You may also want to edit the 'light_natural_amb_down_col_r/g/b/intensity' & 'light_natural_amb_up_col_r/g/b/intensity' values (if the ground remains too bright) & 'sky/cloud_hdr' values (if the sky & plain white soup clouds are still too bright).
The 3d looking (prettier) clouds colour & brightness can be edited in 'cloudkeyframes.xml'

  • @a63nt-5m1th Worked perfectly, as always. Thanks !
