How to remove online ads at loading screen?

  • So I have installed a mod called Christmas Loading Screens, which is very pretty and lovely. but the annoying online ads which I don't care since I no longer play online at all anymore are covering more than the half of the screen and ruining the loadingscreens.

Anywho, so how can i remove them?

  • @Aurora11
I can't guarantee this will work (it has in the past, but all bets are off with any new R* update etc), but worth a try:

    • Create a file called 'commandline.txt' in the root of the game (where 'GTA5.exe' is).
    • Open 'commandline.txt' & type '-scOfflineOnly' & save the file
    • Try loading the game to see if the ads have gone?

If for some reason that doesn't work, search online for a way to start whatever version of the game you have in offline mode.

  • @a63nt-5m1th Problem though it keeps forcing me to go online even for singleplayer :/ This game launcher thingy broke many things unfortunately :(

I would use a cracked exe but saw some mods causing issues with cracked versions :/ (Before anyone accuses me for mentioning this, I'm not encouraging anyone for crack or anything and it's not illegal to play with a cracked exe if you already have the original licensed version of the game bought).

It is though, you are mistaken

  • @ReNNie Apologies if I'm wrong but why exactly? It is legal to modify game files, use of altered game files. Why would it be illegal to modify the exe or use of a modified exe? It's not like it hurts anyone. I mean when I bought the original licensed version, r* and take2 already earned money from my purchase. So :P

In my opinion it's like.. For example someone ported entire GTA 4 into GTA 5. Not the recreation of it but a complete ported. So in this case if someone who has already paid and bought the GTA 4 and 5 is allowed to use that mod since that person already bought the license of both games. But for the person who only bought GTA 5, it's not legal to play that mod since he/she didn't pay anything for GTA 4 content.

reread R* EULA front to back
It's illegal to reverse engineer etc etc
so even when you bought a game, it's still illegal to play with a pirated game copy

As tempting as it is (especially after an update), I'm afraid that is true. But your point @Aurora11 is pretty much understood, I feel you. ;)

  • @ReNNie @TheMurderousCricket I didn't do the reverse engineering myself though. But oh well, nevermind then. Maybe one day I might need to play with it if r* screws up things even more like for example makes it impossible to play normally without updating the game. Because I can't update anything, I got over 200 mods installed, mods folder size is 30 GB, spent months after months properly installing them and changing things to my liking so yeah. Ain't going to play it original version if they do something like that. Anyways, afterall it's just for personal usage anyway, I'm not going to be republishing it here or somewhere else so :P but I hope I won't have to refer to that option and r* stays inside reasonable sanity :P :D

An admirable idealist you are.

I have heard that the latest update forces you to use C* Games Launcher so this is bad. My mod content is perhaps 10% of what you have (30GB!? Seriously?!) but I still don't want to reconstruct everything because C* says my game is not up to date.

Fake Poo and C* could yet win the hearts of single-player gamers by offering an offline-only update/.exe. How hard is that?

  • @TheMurderousCricket Precisely. i just don't understand really why I have to update game or being forced to play online... I completely abandoned the multiplayer for good and just doing fun stuff and taking some beautiful photos in singleplayer...

LA Roads, Vegetation and Billboards taking up the most space I think. The rest is some car, addon ped and realism stuff mods :)

  • For real, it's a miracle that games like "Tropico 2: Pirate Cove", now being the property of Fake 2, do not require "C* Games Launcher". I guess their memory doesn't reach that far into the past.

  • If I remember correctly delete the gtav_online.gfx
    GTAV\mods\update\update.rpf\x64\data\cdimages\scaleform_frontend.rpf\gtav_online.gfx
both in mod and original game file
