Looking for a certain sound in the MP Smuggler directory.

  • Ever since the Smuggler's Run update, ImNotMental's Wipers mod has been using this loud, annoying sound for the wipers.

    Going through the directory of mpsmuggler, does anyone know where the sounds are specifically so I can replace them with silence?

  • @mrwallace888

    Edit:
    Wiper '.wav' files identified, see next post

    Try the 'bombushka.awc' (& the 'BOMBUSHKA_DOOR_CLOSE' & 'BOMBUSHKA_DOOR_OPEN' sounds within it) if you haven't already.

    If that don't work, have you got an example of the sound? Either a vid or a small audio recording of it etc.
    Just means I could identify it immediately, if I heard it
    :thumbsup:

    You owe me a new finger, new ears & a trip to a therapist (to get these vehicle sounds out of my head) :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

    Wiper Sounds Locations:

    • Bomb bay door/mechanical wiper sound is '0x026FCA26.wav' located here:

    ...\mods\x64\audio\sfx\RESIDENT.rpf\vehicles.awc\0x026FCA26.wav

    • Click sound (as wiper changes direction) is 'STONE_10.wav' located in the same place here:

    ...\mods\x64\audio\sfx\RESIDENT.rpf\vehicles.awc\STONE_10.wav

  • @mrwallace888
    The least intrusive way of silencing the sounds (that I could find quickly anyway) is to export 'dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel' to '.xml' using Codewalker's RPF Explorer & then remove/delete this section from the file:

      <Item type="WrapperSound">

        <Unk10 value="50" />
       </Header>
       <AudioHash0>hash_A4D4830B</AudioHash0>
       <FrameStartTime value="0" />
       <AudioHash1 />
       <FrameTimeInterval value="0" />
       <Variables />
       <AudioTracks>

      </Item>
      <Item type="WrapperSound">

        <Item />
       </AudioTracks>
      </Item>

    & then reimport the 'dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel.xml' file back into the location you found it (using CW's RPF Explorer again).

    That way, if the sound files are used anywhere else in the game, they will still work.

  • @a63nt-5m1th Do I do it from the dlcpacks rpf?

    And how do I export it to xml? All I can do is extract it raw or uncompressed.

  • @mrwallace888
    Yep :thumbsup:

    ...\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\mpsmuggler\dlc.rpf\x64\audio\dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel

    Note:
    'dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel', not 'dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54', it's easy to get them mixed up :thumbsup:

    When you go to import 'dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel.xml' after editing, make sure you are in '[:shield: Edit mode]' (top, middle, rightish of CW's RPF Explorer) first & then the 'Import XML...' will be available, confirm the dialog about having to load the archive with OpenIV from now on if it pops up.

  • @a63nt-5m1th What I'm saying is is that how do I export it as an xml to begin with?

  • @a63nt-5m1th How tf do you export the .rel to an .xml file? I Googled it and there's nothing about it anywhere.

    If I do extract raw/uncompressed, and I give it an .xml at the end of the filename, if I open it with Notepad++ it's just a bunch of NULs

  • @mrwallace888
    Are you using CodeWalker's RPF Explorer? If so, you must be clicking on the wrong file, try the file ending '.rel' (dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel) :thumbsup:

  • @a63nt-5m1th Mhm! Yeah. I'm using RPF Explorer. I'm in edit mode. If I right-click the .rel file, I can either export as Raw, or Uncompressed. The Export XML option is grayed out.

  • @mrwallace888
    Hmmm? You must be on an older version of CodeWalker, v.29 yeah?

    Grab the newest version from the CodeWalker Discord :thumbsup:

  • I got the latest version from the mod site, I'll try the one from Discord.
    EDIT: Works now. So when I'm importing it back in, do I have to rename the extracted file and remove the .xml from the end or no?

  • @mrwallace888
    The one on the site hasn't been updated in two & a half years.

    Let me know how you get on with the new one, we'll get to the bottom of it if you're still having issues :thumbsup:

  • @a63nt-5m1th Check the edited reply.

  • @mrwallace888
    Just noticed after I posted :thumbsup:

    No, keep it as '.rel.xml' & then just right-click anywhere in the folder > 'Import XML ...' & select the 'dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel.xml' you edited, wherever it is in Windows (after import (few secs) the file attributes column will change to indicate it is no longer encrypted)
    If you get a popup about having to load the file with openiv from now on accept it :thumbsup:

    Test to confirm the sounds ingame are muted & let me know :thumbsup:

    If for some reason it doesn't work, try importing this 'dlcsmuggler_sounds.dat54.rel.xml' (same edits as yours, just confirmed working in my game 100% so useful from a diagnostic point of view etc) using the same 'Import XML ...' process in RPF Explorer.
