Open IV HELP!!

Tried to installed mods on the web but whenever i click download only the "select game platform" for open iv pops up instead of the actual game file with the data so then i will choose pc and then the open iv window opens up. Really don't know what to do after that.... very frustrated lol

Click on Windows under Grand Theft Auto section.

Go to Tools\ASI Manager and install the first two.

Download and Install Script Hook V.

Copy ScriptHookV.dll and dinput8.dll from the downloaded file to the game's root folder, where GTA5.exe is located.

Create a folder inside the main GTA folder and name it to "Mods". (without quotes)

You are good to go.

yea i did all that, but how do you open the actual mod files with like the readme files. Every mod i downloaded starts off with the open iv program and then i am clueless of what to do next

Put the flamethrower folder into mods\update\x64\dlcpacks.
Start OpenIV, go to mods\update\update.rpf\common\data.
Drag and drop the dlclist.xml to your desktop.
Open it with a text editor like notepad and add this line to the last.

<Item>dlcpacks:\flamethrower</Item>

It should look like this.

<Item>dlcpacks:\patchday12ng</Item>
<Item>dlcpacks:\flamethrower</Item>
</Paths>
</SMandatoryPacksData>

Download a trainer, such as Simple Trainer.
Go to weapons section and there should be an option to spawn the weapons by typing the name.
Type:
WEAPON_FLAMETHROWER
And you are done.
Alternatively, you can go to Ammu-Nation and buy it.

So when i click on the file from the mod package it opens up open IV instead of the actual files with the read.me doc

@AeroLegend The problem is you're doing things that are not in the instructions. Neither the readme with that mod, or the instructions from @Akila_Reigns says to click the rpf file from the mod file.

I must confess, it doesn't help with a readme that makes things more confusing than it should be.

Download the mod and open the rar... do not close the opened .rar file until you reach step 9.
Copy the folder named flamethrower into mods\update\x64\dlcpacks. You do not need to open that flamethrower folder, so you should never see the dlc.rpf file. If you get to see that file, you are about to do something wrong. You can do this step through normal windows explorer, you don't need OpenIV for this step.
Start OpenIV, go to mods\update\update.rpf\common\data
Drag and drop the dlclist.xml to your desktop
Add the <Item>dlcpacks:\flamethrower</Item> line as instructed above.
Drag and drop the dlclist.xml back into OpenIV in the same mods\update\update.rpf\common\data folder that it came from.
In OpenIV, go to update\update.rpf\common\data\effects and drag and drop the explosion.dat file from the opened .rar file into OpenIV.
Close OpenIV
Now you can close the .rar file
Run the game and either spawn or buy the weapon.

If you are clicking the dlc.rpf file at any point during this, you are doing something wrong.

@LeeC2202 sry i don't know how to open the .rar file, like i said when i download the mod only open iv shows up nothing specific like the explosion.dat file nor the flamethrower folder showed up, however i did find the dlclist.xml and put the code into it. Every time i open up the mod it redirects me to open.iv and tells me to locate the game files instead of it giving the actual mod folder.
