My game exits midway through the loading screen after downloading mods.

My game will exit (NOT CRASH) midway through the loading screen and I uninstalled and reinstalled after deleting and verifying the game's integrity countless times and it continues to stop and I don't know what to do at this point I tried YouTube but I could find any fixes so I came here to see if anyone else has or had the same problem and a possible fix.
-
@cricket1205 I'm starting to wonder when people uninstall and reinstall if the reinstall is not overwriting files it should be. Have you tried manually deleting all files?
-
@JohnFromGWN Yeah I go to the GTA V directory and manually delete but before that I verified the game's integrity then when that is done I manually delete every file.
-
This is my problem.

@cricket1205
You should post a screenshot of your GTA V directory so we can see what's there because your game does look likes it's crashing. Crashes can happen and give no sign at all.
Most of my experiences from crashes is definitely mod related so I'm assuming there's some leftover file or something causing an issue.
-
@IAmJFry I wasn't sure if it was a crash because it didn't say your game crash or anything forgot to show my game's directory in the video sorry doing it now.

@cricket1205
I'll look and try to see if I notice anything but some/most of the files are cut off. If you have Discord, you can add me and it'll make it a little easier and then if we solve it we can update this page. My Discord name is IAmJFry#0097.

@IAmJFry Here is an updated video on my end it was fine but something got messed up when I published it but I fixed it and there you go.
-
@cricket1205 Did the game ever load properly for you. In other words is this a recent problem or you've never been able to launch the game? Either way, have you updated your video drivers? I've seen this happen a few times when the drivers are not updated or the game just doesn't like them.
-
@JohnFromGWN No but I was just playing GTA V through the Rock* game launcher.
A bit of back story this has been a problem for a while and I remembered that I had GTA V on another hard drive but I had to uninstall it so now I'm trying to get this one to work again but I can't because of something. I mean did you see my game directory its clean everything is the right file size. Let me update my whole pc.
-
So I am still having problems with my GTA V. I deleted my update folder because I saw a video on YouTube with same problem as me and the way he fixed it was he deleted his update folder and put it back in but the only thing that changed for me was now its just crashing immediately and not freezing at the end.
-
Problem has been solved by basically backing up your "Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles" folders and deleting the folder entirely. Then you let the game recreate this folder then move your saves back over.
-
@IAmJFry Given he had GTA originally installed on another drive on the same PC, it is possibly a profile issue causing the crash - but I would expect an error message from Rockstar, no? Hell, it has given me messages that I need an account in the past. Morons.
@cricket1205 As for backing up your profile, I would be very careful restoring files from it in case one of those files, corrupt or just pointing to another path, is responsible for the problem. See if your game starts and runs stably first, then consider putting back your saved game. You can always download a saved game from the internet.
I don't know about Epic, but with Steam I have 3 different folders, the installation folder, in User Appdata and in Documents. These are not program files, just places to store clips, projects, and rendered videos - but having said that, your issue is anything but normal, so you never know - better to rule out everything you can - especially with Windows which can be dumb as hell.
Not to mention registry leftovers. Very unlikely the uninstaller will remove everything so do a thorough search, backup, and delete.
-
Everything is good it was a bad saved game file
-
@JohnFromGWN Yeah I will not make the same mistake twice from know I've been backing up every deep file.
By deep file I mean files you need openiv for.
-
@cricket1205 Glad you fixed it. Hats off to IAmJFry for figuring it out. I would have never thought of that, so we all learned something.
-
@IAmJFry That was it. Nice catch.
