GTA 5 - Crashing only when starting a new game. Detailed Diagnostics included. Help Please.



  • Alright so I am just hopping back onto GTA 5 and want to replay the whole game from scratch with realistic cars and that's it (So much to ask from Rockstar).

    Here is what I am running into.
    The game is downloaded via Steam.
    Clean Vanilla Install

    Install OpenIV
    Install ScriptHook
    Install ScriptHookVDotNet
    Install HeapLimitAdjuster
    Install GameConfig from Limitless Vehicles (Ran on base and 0x1 Cars, 0x1 peds)

    Mods Installed:
    GTA 5 Car Pack 2010 REAL CARS 1.0.2245... 1.54 ( downloaded from here

    )

    Problem:
    I have a 100% save file and if I load the game up, it loads up fine, the game runs, I can load up every car and the game won't crash.
    When I go to settings, game, and selct "New Game" since I want to start a new game.
    The load screens will show up and the game will crash with CLR.dll error.

    Any suggestions?

  • @Andriy242 clr.dll crashes mostly mean that your game couldn't handle something model/texture related YouTube packs aren't the best ones in my opinion and bring some issues and they're i'm pretty sure not optimised to complete the story with them as they often need tweaking with .metas to make them 100% compatible like 5Real does.

    Btw: it couldn't find the "ScriptHookVDotNet.ini"

  • @Andriy242 I would try removing the completed save and let the game boot up the prologue without loading into another save first, as a modified gameconfig can cause the game to crash when starting a new game from a loaded save.

    Yep i thought the same thing, with it being a mega pack, something has to be an issue. But I have seen people install it and not have any issues.
    I did notice that it mentioned that it could find the .ini file but that doesn't affect the game with the new version of ScriptHookVDot.net.

    Instructions specifically mentioned to move over 3 files and the .ini file was not one of them.
    I did move it over and right away started to get crashes with any save file.



  • @Andriy242 then you should try starting the story mode without a gamesave in your gtav documents folder maybe that works with that pack or try the beginning save from F7YO's gameconfig btw that gameconfig is really good using a modified one myself

    SOLUTION FOUND:
    So I did something very similar actually to what you mentioned. I even cleared all the rockstar folders from Documents to make sure everything was gone, but here is what I eventually had to do to fix the problem.

    Went to My Documents and Deleted the profile from the GTAV folder and not the Launcher Folder.
    Loaded GTA5 and crashed with a VCx64 error code, so that told me that VC was not initialized.
    Reinstalled VCx64, rebooted the computer
    Checked to make sure the GTAV folder in My Documents had no Profile folder.
    Loaded up GTA5, and pressed Story mode and it went into Prologue.

    So far have run it for about 5 hours and no issues and no performance drops.

    *With this I was able to start story mode from scratch, have all 2000+ addon vehicles available if needed, replaced cars in traffic, etc. No issues with crashing.
