Scripthook V

  • is Scripthook V getting updated soon cause of the new update?

  • Have patience. Its usually around a week for the updated version to drop, depending on how much in the game has been changed.

  • true, i was just wondering thanks for the info

  • @T-Rent If you backup 3 files and then restore them after the update, you can play without the SH update.
    See the warning post.

  • I have simply replaced the GTAV.exe with my backed up version and have added the two new dlclist lines and its all working fine in my SP game now. Only thing missing is the wheels because the Track section doesn't exist in trainers yet

  • @ItsJustCurtis Which would seem to confirm that the only reason SH breaks is because it checks the GTA5 version.

  • Well, tried the dlclist updates with patchday25 and mptuner updates, dropped in the previous gta exe, but the thing keeps wanting to reupdate.

i've had this game for three months, looked at all the mods, put a lot in and have been modding files myself (worked on other games in the past like red baron 3d, i have an idea how these work).

its strange to see a company even after 8 years still breaking their game on the community, even stranger having them break my SP game on my hard drive (i dont do online)

*** Oh FYI: i have physical CD's, not a steam game.

  • @ItsJustCurtis what version are you playing from? I am trying that on R* launcher to no success. I get an execution steam x64 could not be found error when I try to launch it.

  • @ItsJustCurtis Which would seem to confirm that the only reason SH breaks is because it checks the GTA5 version.

  • @JohnFromGWN I find that absolutely annoying, why won't it just have an option to play anyway, I assume the actual functions of the game haven't changed, why did they make it locked down, I spent time literally upgrading the version of GTA because of the stupid launcher that doesn't allow to play without networking for some reason any more, now I still have to wait.
I think someone should really solve the issue of updates and mods with GTA it's something that always annoys me, there needs to be a mod manager that accounts for all these situations and I think I'll start working on that.

  • @TheCoolGeek The key is buying the social club version to launch the game with a bypass (modded launcher) and you wont have this issues ever again.

    Cheers

  • Rockstar has no right to go on peoples private systems and cripple a product they legally bought.

  • @Zuraxo For those on Steam, just restore your previous game files which you have thoughtfully backedup. I could time it but it would take less than 5 seconds.

  • @Starland Sadly they do. Because you didn't buy the software, you bought a license to use their software. This is why Microsoft can ram Windows updates (unless you disable the service) whether you want them or not.

  • @ItsJustCurtis So you have the new update.rpf and the old one in your mods folder but with the DLC added? Do you need both DLC? Maybe that's why it's not working for me.

  • @JohnFromGWN no they dont, once it was purchased and installed on my private machine they do not, if i go online thats another story, but i am only using what is installed on my personal system.

ive never seen this in over 30 years of gaming.

  • @JohnFromGWN and yes, i did disable all updates in their settings and yet they still modified my offline game.

  • @Starland You can't disable updates, you can only disable auto-updating (in Steam, don't know Epic). It will update whether you want to or not.

  • @Starland Morally you're right they can't. I could not agree with you more. This really pisses me off.
Legally? Well that's another story and it is the same for all software and has been like that essentially forever.
Think of leasing a car, you can keep it for years but you can't do anything to it without a legal contract - for example paint it or modify the engine.

  • This post is deleted!

  • @JohnFromGWN well, i don't rent my software, not my music recording SFW and not my games.. so this will be the first and last rockstar purchase i ever make.. i don't need them to trash all my modding work every three months on my system.... they need to disconnect SP from online... its not like they haven't really abandoned SP already anyways.

  • @Starland Again, and sorry don't mean to argue, I'm on your side - you do not buy software. You buy a license, and that isn't renting, which can be revoked and gives them the right to basically do whatever they want. I made the comparison with Microsoft which not only forces you to take their stupid updates (unless you disable the update service) and even force you to create an account with them when you install Windows 10.

That one drove me to madness. Why the hell should I need to have an account with you, give you my email (or a trash email account) to use my OS. Are you kidding me? Thankfully the solution is to disconnect the internet at that point in the setup (or go ahead, create a local account later, and delete the MS account - but they still have your email if you go that route). I have never had a MS account, never will, but I'm sick and tired of playing this game with them every time I do a fresh install.

For that matter, why the hell do I need a R* account when I only play SP. This is just a way for them, like Facebook etc, to collect and store personal data.

  • @JohnFromGWN ya, think i may be going Linux after 10 belly ups.

well, you are right, but i don't buy any software (normally) that requires a login to use it, i didn't know that about this rockstar stuff or i wouldn't have bought it.

2 of my 3 systems are offline, an old P3 win98se, and another slightly later system with XP, made to run older programs and games.

pointless to mod up this game when the day will come that your backed up modded version of gta5 will be rendered broken cause this company will keep changing things but the guy that made SHV ends up passing on and isn't around to counter their BS.

that's essentially seems to be the branch that this community is precariously perched on.

  • @Starland Well there are 2 lights at the end of the tunnel. AFAIK, the SHV source code is available for someone else to take the torch. Secondly, and most importantly, we don't need SH. Given that all the R* updates are for online, if you want to keep your modded SP game all you need to do is keep backups of a few files (quite a few threads on this here). So in theory you can keep adding mods and doing whatever you want as long as you restore your previous version files. Mods like cars and peds will not break as far as I know - well they can but honestly I've never seen any that don't work, from 2015 to now.

  • i have 6 various backups dating back till march 21, thats when i bought the game, this current update bypasses everything and makes me reload the patch every time.
