PLEASE HELP ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS

  • ok i put the script folder back in..start the game and soon as i walk out the house as franklin move around or drive in the car for 20 sec it crashes back to the desktop of my computer..

    now i get this after adding my script file back in still crashing

    @Losthegamer01 Does the game run without the mods folder? If so what mods do u have installed also what scripts could be you just forgot to install something or an outdated mod and whatnot

    It's difficult to help without knowing anything

  • Ok so I thought it was a bad mod so I removed the whole mod folder it did the same thing. Starts the game I walk out Franklin house and the time I get down the street it just crash and goes back to my desktop…. So then I removed just about every mod I put in the game and every car I replaced or addon… still doing the same thing …. The only thing left in the game is mission maker and map builder and some custom stuff for Franklin like hair and clothes etc I can’t think of anything else in the game

    The first thing to do is to determine if your game runs without scripts and without mods, in other words like a fresh install. To do this with a modded system simply rename dinput8.dll.

    If the game doesn't run:
    Do a verify integrity. If files are found to replace, restart. This process will also ensure you didn't replace files in the game folder rather than the mods folder.

    If nothing is found to be missing, backup your saved game file and delete so you can start with a new game. This is to rule out a corrupt save game file.

    If the game now runs, unmodded and without scripts, post and we will help find the mod or script culprit. Right now my guess is a script or script conflict is the issue.

  • Do you mean remove the dinput8 then try running the game?? Also how do I try doing the other test you said try after that ???

  • Ok so I removed the dinpin8… the game did the same thing starts soon as I get in the car or walk down the street it just cuts the game off send me back to my desktop….. I also did the other thing you said and all files were good…. I even try playing online it let me go thur the whole process of creating a character then soon as I join online it crashes… I just don’t get it and I clear al the mods out my mod folder I have no scripts in but script hook and script hook dot.. but still have the dinpin8 removed im just lost ??!?! B

    @Losthegamer01 Did your game ever run before? By removing dinput8.dll what we know now with 100% certainty is that your issue is Not with mods or scripts because none are loaded without that file.

    The problem is with your game. Since you verified the integrity it could also be many things, a corrupt save game file, video drivers that need updating, etc.

    This is why i asked if the game has ever worked for you. If it did, then something changed in your environment to break it.

    Im not a believer in reinstalling, but in this case i would. Do a backup and then delete all your gta5 files including your saved games (backup those files). This the way to do a clean reinstall. Update your video drivers too. Did all this happen right after the july tuner update?

  • Ok so my game has been working just fine up until 3 days ago I just happen to cut the game on and it just plays for 20-30 seconds then crash. When the new update came out I never went to the new upload I have back up my previous game and block it from updating so I wouldn’t have to wait for script hook and I can still play…. But I deleted the whole game or Atleast I thought I did last night when I started the game back it still had my mod files and script files in the gta folder … but now my game is on the new update and same results I’m just completed loss and wanna do a complete delete and start over

    @Losthegamer01 Hi. I'm unclear on your status. Can you run the game without mods or not? Please keep in mind that when you do a verify integrity or a complete reinstall your mods and scripts are NOT affected. Either you delete all your mods (asi files) in your installation folder, mods folder, and scripts folder or you simply rename dinput8.dll.

    First step is does your game run without mods. Once it does you can start modding again but from your post I don't understand what is happening.

  • Ok so with the mods in or the mods taking out it still does the same thing… starts up I walk out Franklin house drive down the street and the game cuts completely off and returns me to my desktop….     @Losthegamer01 Strange. Ok, no mods folder, no scripts folder. Do you have OpenIV, SH, and other mods installed in your game installation folder?

    If so, delete them.

    The next thing I would suggest, is to delete your saved game and start fresh (back it up first).
    These are located at C:\Users*YourName*\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\Profiles*YourProfileID*
    I would delete the cloud save file as well.
    Edit this path to reflect your drive, name and id.

    Now try to start the game. If it doesn't start do a verify integrity.

    If it does start, hopefully you can start a new game and that should fix the problem.
    First reset all your graphic and advanced graphics to defaults or low settings.

    Other than that, can you think of any other changes you made - windows updates, video driver updates?

    As a last resort you could do a clean reinstall, which means deleting your GTA5 folder manually and all GTA5 files in my documents folder to ensure a clean install. Steam also uses other folders for screenshots and such but they shouldn't cause issues.

    Gtav.heapadjuster
    And packfilelimitadjuster.asi

    @Losthegamer01 delete them just for the helluv it as well as any asi files. Don't worry if you delete a game file because a verify integrity will replace them. Pls read my previous suggestions as i was editing as you replied

  • Ok so I delete all the files like you said and it let me play like 5 mins of the beginning of gta and after that did the same I’m just completely lost now I’m starting to think maybe it could be my driver or my video card or something but it only does this with this game wierd …..@JohnFromGWN
