it hasn't worked every time i try.

What exactly do you mean there? Worked for some weapons & not others? Or doesn't work all of the time etc?

I took a look at the Tactical Grip mod & the instructions look pretty clear (although perhaps not if this is your first mod etc). You're editing the named files ('weapons.meta/weaponanimations.meta/weaponheavypistol.meta' etc) in your 'mods' folder 'update.rpf' yeah? Not the ones in 'dlcpacks' (for the Heavy Pistol), but the ones in 'mods\update\update.rpf\dlc_patch\mpbusiness\common\data\ai'?

If you haven't made any previous edits to those files & they have not been edited by a weapons mod etc (ie they are 100% vanilla or you don't care about losing any edits you have made to them), try replacing them with these files (they are the files in the mod's 'backup' folder, but with the edits applied to them). As always, be sure to make a backup of your 'mods' folder 'update.rpf' first.

If you have made edits to those files in your game previously or have installed a weapons mod in the past, upload the files the mod edits from within your game to somewhere like https://app.mediafire.com & post the link here

These are the files the 'Tactical Grip' mod wants you to edit:

    • ...\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\ai\weapons.meta
    • ...\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\ai\weaponanimations.meta
    • ...\mods\update\update.rpf\dlc_patch\mpbusiness\common\data\ai\weaponheavypistol.meta
    • ...\mods\update\update.rpf\dlc_patch\mpbusiness\common\data\ai\weaponanimations.meta

  • . I mean I was confused on how many files I had to edit.
it's my first time modding like this thanks.

  • @baked-beans
    Cool, no probs

If you are using the files I linked to earlier, ignore the rest of this

If you are not using the files I linked to earlier & are making your own edits, in the 'weaponanimations.meta' files you will find multiple references to 'WEAPON_PISTOL' & 'WEAPON_HEAVYPISTOL'

The correct 'WEAPON_PISTOL' or 'WEAPON_HEAVYPISTOL' section to edit is the one in the '<Item key="Default">' section of the file. Not all of therm that exist in there need edited.
You can search for '<Item key="Default">' & scroll down to find the next 'WEAPON_PISTOL' or 'WEAPON_HEAVYPISTOL' & edit that one &/or use the pictures provided in the download & the line numbers in them (on the left of pics) to find the correct one to edit.

Any issues with your text editor not showing line numbers when you open the '.meta' files, use Notepad++ instead
