Does anyone know how to remove this ugly graphical glow?
-
Hello,
When I play SP there is this annoying glow around the characters in cutscenes and in free roam the whites are extremely bright. I am using Reshade but if I disable it this still happens on vanilla graphics. Please let me know if there needs to be something adjusted in the files.
Also, my shadows seem be glitching. Again these issues still persist when I disable Reshade. I have no other graphic mods.
Please assist, thank you in advance.

@DugiHowser
In the timecycle files...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\timecycle
there are these values worth investigating:
<ped_light_col_r> <ped_light_col_g> <ped_light_col_b> <ped_light_mult> <light_ped_rim_mult>
& in 'visualsettings.dat'
...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\visualsettings.dat
there are these:
#Config values for peds ped.ambientvolume.maxstrength 1.000 ped.ambientvolume.fadestart 16.000 ped.ambientvolume.fadeend 20.000 ped.ambientvolume.baseintensity 0.000 ped.incarAmbientScale 0.5 pedLight.color.red 1.000 pedLight.color.green 1.000 pedLight.color.blue 1.000 pedlight.intensity 6.000 pedlight.radius 6.000 pedlight.innerConeAngle 30.000 pedlight.outerConeAngle 45.000 pedlight.coronaHDR 1.000 pedlight.coronaSize 2.087 pedlight.falloffExp 32.000 pedlight.volumeIntensity 0.300 pedlight.volumeSize 0.400 pedlight.volumeExponent 70.000 pedLight.volumeColor.x 1.000 pedLight.volumeColor.y 1.000 pedLight.volumeColor.z 0.500 pedLight.volumeColor.w 1.000 pedlight.fade 20.000 pedlight.shadowFade 15.000 pedlight.specularFade 10.000 pedFpsLight.color.red 1.000 pedFpsLight.color.green 1.000 pedFpsLight.color.blue 1.000 pedFpslight.intensity 6.000 pedFpslight.radius 16.000 pedFpslight.innerConeAngle 30.000 pedFpslight.outerConeAngle 45.000 pedFpslight.coronaHDR 1.000 pedFpslight.coronaSize 2.087 pedFpslight.falloffExp 128.000 pedFpslight.volumeIntensity 0.0500 pedFpslight.volumeSize 0.400 pedFpslight.volumeExponent 70.000 pedFpsLight.volumeColor.x 1.000 pedFpsLight.volumeColor.y 1.000 pedFpsLight.volumeColor.z 0.500 pedFpsLight.volumeColor.w 1.000 pedFpslight.fade 20.000 pedFpslight.shadowFade 15.000 pedFpslight.specularFade 10.000
test reduce values & see if any affect the glow etc.
In timecycle files I'd probably try '<light_ped_rim_mult>' first & in 'visualsettings.dat' test the 'volume' values. Or reduce them all to start, & confirm if any of them change the look & then work from there
Looks like a bloom effect, there are bloom values in both timecycle files & 'visualsettings.dat' but I steered away from that in trying to find a way for you to reduce only that effect on peds, rather than a global value that will affect all bloom etc. Those bloom values might be worth investigating, depending on results with other values etc
-
@a63nt-5m1th Thank you so much! I will look into these tonight
-
@a63nt-5m1th I have tried all of the values mentioned and still no luck. I even removed all of the Bloom values and Blur values from visualsettings.dat and still have this glow. I googled this and found others complaining about it however no "fix" for it anywhere
-
@DugiHowser It's not exactly a solution but as a temporary thingy, there is a DisableFakeCharacterLight option in ENB. It's at the FIX category (a few category under where it shows your fps). I believe that should fix this problem.
Not exactly sure but I think in ENB if you like disable every effect and all that it doesn't do any impact on the fps (not entirely sure). but at least you can give it a try and I hope it helps
-
@Aurora11 I know what you mean however with ENB you solve one thing and open 5 more issues. ENB over saturates and brighten character skin tones so much that I rather keep the ugly fake bloom.
-
@DugiHowser That's also true too unfortunately
Is this still happening though like if you disable everything else in the ENB?
-
@Aurora11 I tried but I don't think you can actually disable the shaders in ENB. I know that the FX stuff you can but the lighting settings are not togglable. You can adjust but thats about it. I tried to set the lighting settings to zero and still did not get good results. Unless I am missing something?
-
@DugiHowser Oh
I understand
That kinda sucks really, cuz in ReShade you can completely disable everything you like
I would honestly expect better from ENB since it has more options and more advanced
I guess that's why despite copy pasting the same exact timecycle my 2 weathers still not looking same
-
@Aurora11 @DugiHowser The only ugly graphical glow I have with my game is when the MP female spawns.
-
@JohnFromGWN So you don't have that bloom glow around characters in cutscenes? Are you using ENB or Reshade?
-
@DugiHowser
Perhaps try these empty/no values 'timecycle_mods 1>4.xml' files & see if the effect is removed? If so, testing individual files & then adding blocks of data back into that file & test loading the game can confirm what values you need to edit.Cutscenes can have extra effects added to the scene using 'cameras.ymt' (doesn't work/load in-game once edited, so cannot be used/modded atm (perhaps in future tho)), but I don't appear to have any glow emanating from peds in indoor cutscenes at least (not sure about outdoor cutscenes, but no glow in normal gameplay either):
For all of these pics I disabled ENB:
Perhaps try this visualsettings.dat as well. You never know.
-
@DugiHowser sorry, i was just joking about how ugly the mp shemale is.
-
@JohnFromGWN Ohh
didn't get it at first.
-
@a63nt-5m1th Ill give this a whirl once SHV is updated and will let you know. Thanks so much for the info and link!
-
Hey there @a63nt-5m1th , thank you very much for this one
By the by very sorry for going a bit of off topic but do you know by any chance what is the file name of Lamar's necklace used in cutscenes?
I am using a different ped model for Lamar and I removed that necklace, even tried to enable it's slot and then adding an invisible model with invisible alpha texture but I noticed it's not a character prop. It's an individual prop that only attaching to Lamar in cutscenes and has it's own animation to match the movement of Lamar. When I use different ped of course it's clipping out so

@Aurora11
Is it the square one with the LS logo on it?I'm presuming you checked these locations, but just putting them down anyway:
...Grand Theft Auto V\mods\x64g.rpf\levels\gta5\generic\cutspeds.rpf\cs_lamardavis\berd_001_u.ydd (uses 'berd_diff_001_a_uni.ytd' in same folder)
...Grand Theft Auto V\mods\x64g.rpf\levels\gta5\generic\cutspeds.rpf\cs_lamardavis\berd_002_u.ydd (uses 'berd_diff_002_a_uni.ytd' in same folder)
Both appear to be the same item & there is also a lower quality texture in 'berd_diff_000_a_uni.ytd', also in same folder.
or here (same files/file names etc):
...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\x64e.rpf\models\cdimages\streamedpeds_ig.rpf\ig_lamardavis
Some of Lamar's '.ycd' files reference a 'p_stretch_necklace_s-12', but could only find 'p_stretch_necklace_s.ydr' (& it looks like just a big link chain necklace (as opposed to LS logo square etc))
-
@a63nt-5m1th Oh thank you so much. Yup I was checked the cs_lamardavis and ig_lamardavis. It has that necklace but it's a static ped accessory like any type of clothing. The cutscene one is different and has it's own animation.
With your second thingy though, I remembered Stretch was a Balla guy (or the other old school Families guy? Can't remember now lol
), so I looked for it and it's Stretch's accessory. Then searched for Lamar in that location and found out p_lamarneck_01_s.ydr file which is the one appearing only at cutscenes
Just replaced it with an invisible ydr and it's gone now, thank you so so very much again @a63nt-5m1th

@Aurora11 said in Does anyone know how to remove this ugly graphical glow?:
p_lamarneck_01_s.ydr
Yeah, I found that file referenced in 'lamar_1_int.cut' & confirmed it was the one:
<Item type="rage__cutfPropModelObject"> <iObjectId value="17" /> <attributeList> <UserData1 value="0" /> <UserData2 value="0" /> </attributeList> <cutfAttributes /> <cName>hash_8D0360D7</cName> <StreamingName>p_lamarneck_01_s</StreamingName> <AnimStreamingBase value="-1721331966" /> <cAnimExportCtrlSpecFile>hash_7097694E</cAnimExportCtrlSpecFile> <cFaceExportCtrlSpecFile /> <cAnimCompressionFile>hash_47FB8D46</cAnimCompressionFile> <cHandle /> <typeFile>cutsobjects</typeFile> </Item> <Item type="rage__cutfPropModelObject"> <iObjectId value="18" /> <attributeList> <UserData1 value="0" /> <UserData2 value="0" /> </attributeList> <cutfAttributes /> <cName>hash_DBFCE0A1</cName> <StreamingName>p_stretch_necklace_s</StreamingName> <AnimStreamingBase value="-1317173944" /> <cAnimExportCtrlSpecFile>hash_7097694E</cAnimExportCtrlSpecFile> <cFaceExportCtrlSpecFile /> <cAnimCompressionFile>hash_47FB8D46</cAnimCompressionFile> <cHandle /> <typeFile>cutsobjects</typeFile> </Item>
just didn't have a chance to update previous post (browser/site removed all I had typed when in another tab
). Glad you found it tho
-
@a63nt-5m1th Oh thank you so so much
<3 Yeah it sucks the site is still very broken and no improvements been made ever since
I'm also time to time experiencing the trouble of my account just logs out while I'm still logged in and it shows me error message when I try to post something I wrote

@a63nt-5m1th Hello again and happy new year. I kept away from playing for a while so I was unable to try out the settings you linked. Indoor there was some changes but out door there was none unfortunately. Still the same ugly glow. I read into a little more on other forums and it seems that you cannot remove the bloom/glow
