Help for someone new to installing mods with GTA V but also plays online?

Hello!
So I play online relatively often but I'd like to mod SP and play that as well. I'm not familiar with modding GTA V at all.

I'd like to be able to do both but I know that if I accidentally start online with modded files in my game directory, I'll likely get banned. With that being said, is there any way for me to maintain an clean online game directory with also playing modded SP without making two copies of my game directory?If so, how do I get started?

@mukesogel You can't get banned with the mods you will find on this site. The whole getting banned for going online is total BS.

Why they thought writing it in Node and compiling to exe was a good idea is beyond me... 19 MB exe for a 3 KB source file is insane. There are so many better options. Batch script, C++, C#...

God I feel so foolish. I thought this was a good way to do it:
Ren dinput8.dll .dinput8.dll 2> nul || ren .dinput8.dll dinput8.dll 2> nulBut now I can do it with a 19mb.exe!

I usually rename files by adding a ___DISABLED postfix so dinput8.dll___DISABLED so it's painfully obvious it's... disabled

@ReNNie good idea. What's sad is the myth and overwhelming misinformation of being banned on line. When im using Menyoo i often mash the player key by mistake and i always get that black screen telling me im trying to go online with a modded game but that it won't happen.
Also, anyone on these forums who downloads an .exe file, directly from the cloud, and runs it is potentially asking for trouble.
