Can’t find Gta 5 exe file ??
-
Hello, I’m new to this forum…I’m having problems finding the Gta 5 exe file, it’s not in the steam folder or rockstar games folder, I’m asking cuz openIV needs the gta 5 exe file to mod…I click the files it’s supposed to be in but it’s not showing up in the folder at all…any help would be very appreciated, I really want to start modding ASAP

If you have Steam, select the game from the library, right click, select Properties, Local Files, Browse.
But honestly, if you can't find the installation folder you probably shouldn't be modding. You should take a course on basic computing and Windows.
Just use Windows Search from the start menu or go into Windows explorer and search there.
or from windows search
or from Steam

@JohnFromGWN when clicking the gta 5 exe file it says the code execution cannot proceed because steam_api64.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem….this forum won’t let me post a pic of it

@florida_boii954 start the game from the Steam interface. Have you ever used Steam before?
-
@JohnFromGWN ok I’ll try that, This is my first time at playing games on pc, I’ve always played on the console
-
@JohnFromGWN I tried started game from steam and I still can’t open or move the gta 5 exe file….when I search for it and click it, it basically says it can’t open and I can’t even copy it to the folder…everything else is in the right place except the exe file and open iv needs it in order to mod

@florida_boii954 It's hard to believe you're not trolling, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Go into Steam, go into Library, if you installed GTA5 with Steam or added it to Steam you will see a green button called PLAY. With the mouse, left click the button that says PLAY and your game will start like magic.
To provide the path to OpenIV, from Steam, find the game on the left hand side of your library, where the games are listed, and right click. A menu will appear, select Properties, Local Files, Browse, and you will see the GTA5 folder. From Windows Explorer, at the very top, right click again and select copy address, that is your path. Paste that path for OpenIV so it can load itself.

@florida_boii954 in gta 5 folder, lol

@JohnFromGWN I wish I could upload a screenshot on here cuz that would be very helpful…I did what you said but I’m not seeing an address or anything like that just a bunch off stuff, everything but the exe file…after clicking browse files it shows everything in the folder but I’m not seeing where I copy the address on the top….it just says program files (x86) steam steamapps common Grand Theft Auto 5 on the top, I don’t see anything to copy and paste on the top

@florida_boii954 Do you realize this will be the longest thread in the history of this forum? This is where you will see the folder location, also called a path, that you will use for OpenIV. You can either copy and paste the path/folder location as per the screenshot. Or you can browse to that location from OpenIV. If you have a default installation of Steam, it will look something like this:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V
Mine is on a P drive so don't use it. NOTE: Your file may only say GTA5 and not GTA5.exe. See bottom screenshot.
Go to the View Menu, top of Windows Explorer, and check Filename Extensions to see the .exe appear.
This is where you use either the Browse or copy and paste:

Thanks I finally realized what was going on, I thought it had to say exe but I had the GTA V instead of the exe

@florida_boii954 Good. I thought of that at the last minute. Good luck with the rest. Post if you have issues.
