Falling through the ground on Add-On Maps but can see them
-
I have a few addon map mods that were working before but now they load but if I try to go onto them I just fall through the ground. For example Beverly Hills mansion I can see it but once I try to walk onto the driveway I just go through it and am walking on the sand. Any help?

Rockstar seriously messed with the static collisions on the main San Andreas map in 2545.0 which causes Add-On Maps to not load their collisions and because of that, you fall through
a possible temporary solution could be to increase the value on poolsize StaticBounds to
46500 (following dilapidated's gameconfig.xml) or an even higher value

What Ren said. Rockstar really screwed up.
Btw, we recently Rejected a mod that pretended to fix it all. Be wary of such mods. The game has a limited number of resources, and you generally cannot create more resources ex nihilo. If you take from one place, it will go at the expense of another. For instance, a (private) solution of mine was to move several of my own ymaps to GROUP_EARLY_ON. That worked, but only in the knowledge that I may have pushed out other stuff in the process elsewhere.
Tl;dr: we are going to be very wary of snake-oil solutions offered to the community. My personal view is that the breakage is on a scale likely best left to Rockstar to fix themselves, We nonetheless, of course, highly encourage modders to discuss and confer amongst themselves to come up with solid (no pun intended) solutions to the many collision failures.

I wouldn't use those words. They may have done this intentionally because the money is in GTAO and the Trilogy. If it wasn't intentional, which I"m hoping is the case, you have to remember that taking modding into consideration is not on their priority list. Quite on the contrary, they don't want us to Mod because modding constantly breaks the game and then people swear at R* for their own noob user mistakes. Like the guy who can't find GTA5.exe probably thinks R* hid the file.
Remember that MS forces automatic updates aslo, particularly security updates, because again they don't want people to criticize their OS.
So companies in general are ramming updates down our throats and others like Adobe resolve that issue almost completely through the cloud subscriptions.
The funniest part about this whole deal is that those who want to play online can, and those who want to play SP can just revert back.
I'm done with troubleshooting my system. If I want the new content I'll create addons from it, but I"m no longer updating.
P.S. I'm not defending R* or MS one bit. Just being realistic, they ain't gonna fix nothing.

Sjaak and I cautiously think we can offer if not a overall solution, then at least a non-breaking way to deal with falling thru floors.
For example, my Venice Beach House worked fine, and that of Sjaak didn't. We compared stuff, and Sjaak noticed my custom DLC had a few difference booleans, like
<Item> <filename>dlc_vbh:/%PLATFORM%/levels/gta5/vbh_metadata.rpf</filename> <fileType>RPF_FILE</fileType> <overlay value="true" /> <disabled value="true" /> <persistent value="true" /> <contents>CONTENTS_DLC_MAP_DATA</contents> </Item>
It was setting the Disabled value to 'true' as well for Sjaak that made that it work for him again. And it fixed Malibu Mansion and the Gidoxy roof apartment for him as well.
No garanties, but changing a boolean or two is pretty harmless test. Caveat emptor.

@meimeiriver You might want to mention you are editing content.xml as many if not most users here are new to modding. (I'm assuming that is the file, I don't have the mod nor any problems whatsoever).
-
@meimeiriver muy excellente! Let's see if it indeed fixes the problem for users on 2545.0
-
@meimeiriver And where exactly do you edit those values?
-
@lizuca content.xml
Video below is not meant as a fix as I don't even know if this mod (malibu mansion) has an issue and I'm not on an updated game. This is just to show location of file (content.xml) and item which needs editing - assuming fix works on all mods with this collision issue.Note: disregard my dlc file locations, your location will be in dlcpacks.
-
@ReNNie you mean muy excelente. As an expert in Spanish (or was that portuguese), the double consonant is not as common in Spanish as it is in English - for cognates that is. And I'm kidding about being an expert, or am I? No lo se.
-
@JohnFromGWN muy bueno 👍
-
@JohnFromGWN Thank you so very much for pointing out the location for me, unfortunately this doesn't works for Liberty City map, I'm using the Rockstar Games Launcher version of the game, not Steam or Epic.
-
Just chiming in to report that the fix isn't working for me either. I've tried it for Spa Francorchamps and Monaco GP circuit with no luck.
-
@SaekwanB You're going to have to revert back or worst case have two versions - this could be done by just swapping files (GTA5.exe and SH5).
-
Their workflow doesn't include us. It doesn't include mods and it never will. They didn't screwup, they don't plan around us, they don't develop around us, they just don't care about this SP community. And worst of all, they know we will keep buying their games. And in all fairness, they don't test modded games when they are in development - can you imagine testing a mod like Chicago? Not even remotely on their radar screen I bet.
-
@WGotch07 Just curious, what's the big issue with reverting back to play modded and just creating your own addons from the update, if you want the crap vanilla cars or the new crap peds?
-
@SaekwanB Sjaak and I tried it on several of the more popular mods out there, where it worked fine. It does, apparently, indeed not work on the more huge racetracks out there, like Nurburg ring. Which is why I initially said my personal view is that the breakage is on a scale likely best left to Rockstar to fix themselves.
-
@JohnFromGWN Nothing inherently wrong with that... except there's currently no legitimate way to prevent one's game from updating.
-
@WGotch07 Ok thanks, not an online player, you can bet they will fix the online issues and hopefully those will fix some SP ones also.
-
@meimeiriver On steam there is definitely a way to stop updating.
My game will no longer be updating, and actually it can't because I have a firewall rule blocking it. As I wrote before, I'm lucky to be SP only, because I can revert back and also I can use any of the new dlc by simply dumping the files into dlc.rpfs. I've already tried this with new peds and new cars but was disappointed, as usual, with the vanilla stuff. On EPGS there is likely a similar solution.
As for the online bugs, the major ones will get fixed. For those who want SP reverted and new version Online - that is a joke. One batch file and you can switch from one to the other by copying 2 files and possibly having to rename 2 others.
It's unusual for a game which came out on PC in 2015 to get updated at all - and ironically the only reason is because of GTAO, so it should be expected that things will break. Interesting that nobody mentions scripts. As someone learning scripting, I see firsthand how the native functions can change after updates, so not just the MLOs and Mega maps.
-
@WGotch07 That sucks. I just backup SH5 and GTA5.exe. That's all i need.
Blocking GTA5 with the firewall is wonderful not just for updating but because I no longer see the GTAO loading screens which I found super annoying.
Don't get me wrong, have nothing against updates. It's just I no longer have any patience to play with my config when it crashes post update. And yes, I did spend a few hours updating gameconfig.xml, trying old engine with new dlc, etc. It took me several combinations of gameconfig.xml and heap and pack to work after Tuner - and I never used any of the new content.
And then it hit me. Why am I trying to update when I don't play online?
Will I try the next update? Yes, but I will not spend hours if it breaks my game again.
-
@WGotch07 Thanks but I wanted a permanent solution, in case at some point I do a verify integrity. Have you tried blocking the .exe?
I use a free utility, have for many years, that is in my context menu. One right click over any .exe and I toggle internet on and off. Simple and effective. Not going to pull out my ethernet, not going to disable my ethernet adapter, and not going to use offline commands or change .cfg files.

this has always worked for me
<Item> <filename>dlc_spRagsRiches:/%PLATFORM%/levels/gta5/_citye/downtown_01/dt1_additions.rpf</filename> <fileType>RPF_FILE</fileType> <overlay value="false" /> <disabled value="true" /> <persistent value="true" /> <contents>CONTENTS_DLC_MAP_DATA</contents> </Item>
you can use it for metadata or just throwing everything in one rpf (imap, ityp, idr, ibn, itd, etc)
For interiors metadata (imap only) I use
<Item> <filename>dlc_spRagsRiches:/%PLATFORM%/levels/gta5/interiors/int_placement_sprr.rpf</filename> <fileType>RPF_FILE</fileType> <overlay value="false" /> <disabled value="true" /> <persistent value="true" /> <loadCompletely value="true" /> <contents>CONTENTS_DLC_MAP_DATA</contents> </Item>
and for Interior ityp, idr, ibn, itd, etc I use
<Item> <filename>dlc_spRagsRiches:/%PLATFORM%/levels/gta5/interiors/sprr_int_facade_loading_dock.rpf</filename> <fileType>RPF_FILE</fileType> <overlay value="false" /> <disabled value="true" /> <persistent value="true" /> <contents>CONTENTS_MAP</contents> </Item>

First time an update breaks collisions, so how many times has this happened to you?
