Game doesn't close
-
Whenever I decide to close GTA (pause menu -> exit game), I also have to open task manager and actually end the process or GTA will just stay open in the background consuming a lot of RAM. This only happens when SHV is active, when I deactivate it to play GTA Online the game closes normally. This has been happening since I installed the new version of SHV back in December
-
@JustDancePC very strange but by disabling sh5 you're just masking the real cause which is a mod, likely a script. If not this would be posted frequently.
Ive never seen this issue posted. The only time my game freezes is when i spawn a bad ped or vehicle or when i spawn a very large number of entities. At that point I'll end the process and if that doesn't respond either end steam or do a switch user which always works for me as last resort.
Why not try disabling your scripts folder as a test and possibly your mods folder if that doesn't work.
-
Mmm, yes, a script. I guess you're right. Now I have to find out which one
-
@JustDancePC I have this same problem
-
@Niziul disable your scripts folder temporarily (rename it) and see if you can close your game.
-
@JohnFromGWN Did not work. I did three tests, one I renamed the script folder, another I renamed the dinput8.dll file and the last one, which I thought was the reason for the problem, I removed the menyooStuff mod from the gta folder and nothing resolved, gta keep running on second plan. I suspect it must be some modified file, because my game only has two scripts (mapEditor and my script under development) and in a matter of add-ons I only have "civmaverick" and "forest" in the dlcpacks folder. otherwise only the default files for the mods to work. I honestly don't stress anymore, because it's already become a routine to open the task manager. (google translate)
-
@Niziul it is not a modified file unless you modified a game file because when you removed or renamed dinput8.dll it will stop all asi from loading which will in effect stop all mods.
So sounds like a vanilla game issue, do a verify integrity. Also quite possibly a corrupt save game file. You could backup your save, delete the active version, and then start a new game.
-
@JohnFromGWN Possibly that must be it, thanks.
-
@Niziul also remember shutting down processes puts you at risk of corrupting files if they are writing to disk when you abort. For that reason ive disabled auto saves.
-
Well, for me it only happens when SHV is active, so in my case it's definitely a mod
-
in fact, now after all that, i closed the game normally. I did not understand. it just got back to normal!
-
I'm having the same issue - have to open Task Manager to force-quit the game which is very annoying.
How do we find out what mod/script is causing this?
-
@Suzerain001 check your logs to see if there are any clues.
-
@JohnFromGWN said in Game doesn't close:

Checked OpenIV.log and don't see anything off - the last line it has before I killed the process in Task Manager was: 09/01/2022 12:58:43.651 [9268] TRACE: [fiPackfile::openArchive] 'dlc_patchDay26NG:/x64/anim/ingame/clip_veh@.rpf' That seems to be a default file (not a mod) so I'm not sure what's causing the process to hang after quitting via the game.

The newest update has an issue where its not closing properly. Several people have reported this, even on un-modded games. I think it is an inherent problem with the latest release, and not a specific mod.
-
@ItsJustCurtis good to know, we're chasing the wrong thing. I don't have this issue because i wisely reverted back. If anyone can provide a good reason for the upgrade for someone who is only SP, id like to hear it. The new cars and peds can easily be converted if the new dlcpacks cause issues.
-
Easy one for me, newest update contains the hidden files for chameleon paints

Lol. I thought that was just E&E.
-
i also have this problem, idk what is causing this
-
@hayden9262go @ItsJustCurtis wrote that it might be related to the update, so either revert back or play with your mods and settings.
