i know this question been asked everywhere but i never found a straight answer. can you mod online private match with friends not public or will you get banned

@bobray565 yes you can mod online but you need to create your own server, for example fivem, and then you can play with friends. Or if you don't want you own mods on your own server just join someone else's.
You can't play the official GTAO with mods and both sh5 and OpenIV have preventative measures, so no risk at all of getting banned.
