Script Hook Critical Error (How To Fix?)
-
Hi, so i didnt update my gta 5 game thru Epic Games, until today, and i got a Script Hook error and now i cant even play single player with all of my add on mods, how do i fix or by pass this without waiting for the new Script Hook update its self? This update was the April 2022 patched update.

if you didn't backup your old files, you're out of luck and have to wait
-
@Reacon awe crap, yup, guess since i do have a irl job, ill be keep busy then itll be out in no time
-
@T-Rent-Musik usually around a week most times, however can vary especially with the conflict going on as AB is russian
-
@Reacon yeah, thats very true, hopefully nothing wont slow him down and he can give us a update, if not, i can always wait for it, its no biggie for me, i just seeing if there were a way around if i wasnt smart enough to back up my files lol, but oh well lol but thank you for letting me know!
-
@Reacon I really doubt AB is on the receiving end of the bombing.

@JohnFromGWN I know, but you never know how people are affected
-
I'm having the same problem now, my epic updated my game files and I didn't have a backup. So I have to wait for the new Script Hook right?
-
@Lin-12138 yes, you are shit out of luck
-
Thanks for sharing the link @JohnFromGWN. Mine works, that is after using the previous GTA5.exe & PlayGTAV, and updating my update.rpf on OpenIV
-
@Yunky If you allowed OpenIV to update your update.rpf then you lost your dlclist.xml and gameconfig.xml - hope you had backups.
-
@JohnFromGWN Yes of course. I have a whole recent backup of the whole mods folder, but again I already extracted the dlclist, extratitle, vehicles.meta and config, which was easy to replace

Thanks for your excellent thread and your efforts regarding backup files and restoring to an older version after an update. Are you aware if there is a launcher bypass script that works and prevents the game from updating? I'm asking because I have the retail version (DVD discs) of the game and when I replace the updated files with the backed up older ones the game immediately detects it and initiates the update procedure...
I had reached an "island of stability" with all the mods I wanted, the game run flawlessly, no updates at all with launcherbypass, but then Rockstar screwed us all by purposefully breaking this mod as I'm sure you know.

Try this.
- Download this free utility or if you prefer create a firewall rule to block these files.
- From the utility, do a right click on GTAVLauncher.exe and select Block Internet Access. I would do the same for GTA5.exe
This should hopefully stop the updates - but I'm on Steam, not DVD, nor EPGS.
I can certify that blocking GTA5.exe removes all the online ads and allows SP mode.
