  • My third tutorial.

    Here's another META file.

    The Vehicles.meta.


    Vehicles.meta defines vehicles and their properties.
    This file is located in xxxx.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5

    Examples:

    • Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5
    • Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\mpstunt\dlc.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5

    Like the Handling.meta, this tutorial will be useful for new modders.

    1. Parameters

    1.1 modelName

    • Name of the model.

    Example:
    <modelName>blista</modelName>

    1.2 txdName

    • Name of the vehicle's texture dictionary.

    Example:
    <txdName>blista</txdName>

    1.3. handlingId

    • The name used in handling.meta. Default names are written in uppercase.

    1.4. gameName

    • The vehicle's name corresponding to its GXT2 entry.
    • Displayed when entering the vehicle.

    1.5. vehicleMakeName

    • The vehicle maker's/manufacturer's name corresponding to its GXT2 entry.
    • Default names are written in uppercase.

    Examples:

    MAXNUMOFSAMECOLOR VALUE - how many of the same color car can be spawned based off the cars carvariation colors

    DEFAULTBODYHEALTH VALUE - how many health the car has before it blows up

    FREQUENCY VALUE - percentage of chance of car spawning in a certain area. usually 65% and up the car will spawn more.

    MAXNUM VALUE - max number of cars to spawn in a certain area. usually 13 and up will spawn alot of the same car model.

    if alot of cars say in your addon pack are set to 80% frequency then it will also go off of the higher maxnum values to determine if the car will be spawned.

    to get more cars to spawn and more variety of cars to spawn around town then the settings.xml file under user documents/gta v you have to edit the line that says
    Vehiclevarietymultiplier value. a value between 1.15 to 1.25 is good to start with and 1.50 equals 150%. Values between 1.50 to 2.00 will be alot more traffic around town and more varieties of cars. But increasing this number above 1.00 will increase vram usage on your graphics card and anymore then 1.20-1.25 you will notice graphic/texture issues if you have alot of replace cars added in game.

    gameconfig files like one from F7Y0 can decrease graphic/texture issues some but it will only do so much.

    i had my vehiclevariety set to 1.45 for along time but once i started adding more replace cars past 28-30 then i noticed texture issues on the road or buildings.



  • @Akila_Reigns well, i want to split up a ytd file into 2 files, but is it possible to load 2 texture files for one model?



  • @pipje2001 You can make multiple liveries for one car, I don't think you can load two .ytd files for one add-on.

    Open 'handling.meta' & lower this value:

          <fLowSpeedTractionLossMult value="lower this value here" />
    

    Higher values make the vehicle wheels spin more. Lower values give you more grip (can be negative (-) if even more grip is needed).

    Camera distance is set in the model itself. You would need to contact the author (unlikely they will change it just for you, but maybe) or if the mod author has left the model unlocked when they exported it from Zmodeler3 you will be able to edit the vehicle camera yourself with your own copy of Zmodeler3 (small paid subscription required to use) or perhaps find someone willing to do it for you.
    Note: If the model is locked using Zmodeler there will nothing you can do to change it & also learning to use Zmodeler is no easy task. You will need to invest time in learning the necessary skills.

  • I'm new to modding but I've managed to change all the car manufacturers to the correct ones and I have changes most models as well. However, I do not understand how to change the in-game car names that are in the so called "Enhanced Version" of the game. I'm trying to find a way to change the Imponte Dukes to Pontiac GTO 1969. DUKES is not present in the extracted global.oxt. I tried adding it to global.oxt without luck. How do I change it?! Can't find any info on this.

    1. Change these lines in the "vehicles.meta" section of the Imponte Dukes to look like shown (they are ready to paste over):

      <gameName>GTO69</gameName>
      <vehicleMakeName>PONTIAC</vehicleMakeName>

    2. Add these two lines to the "global.oxt" (at the end or in any place before):

    PONTIAC = Pontiac
    GTO69 = GTO 1969

    1. VERY IMPORTANT: In OpenIV, do not use the green plus sign to add your edited "global.oxt" file to the "american.dlc" archive. That will not work. You have to drag the file from Windows to the area in OpenIV where the existing "global.oxt" is. Again, do not add, you have to drag it.
