[Tutorial] How to install FiveM maps in Single Player
-
Hello friends, maybe some of you have ever obtained an interesting MLO map but when you download it you see that it is for FiveM.
No problem, I bring you a simple guide to solve this problem.
The first thing we need is this Mod:
https://www.gta5-mods.com/tools/dlc-pack-creator
(We will also need OpenIV which I guess you all know).
Now let's see our downloaded map as FiveM:
The files we need will be inside the "Stream" folder. If we open it, we will see this:
Now let's put this aside, and let's unzip and run our DLC Pack Creator:
We will run it as administrator, and we will see this:
OK, now let's get down to business.
We need to know the name of the map, for example, imagine it is "vinewood_house".
We'll take that name and put it in the blank space, and click on "Create DLC".
We will have to choose the file where we want to create it, which should be the following path, or where we have installed our game:
Rockstar Games -> Grand Theft Auto V -> Mods -> Update -> DLCPacks
If everything went well, a warning message will appear saying that the category has been created.
If you get an error, check one of these steps:
- You are already running GTA V.
- You have not opened the program as an administrator.
- You have another mod/dlcpack with the same name.
If everything went well, we can close the DLC Pack Creator and go to OpenIV.
Now we search the route:
Mods -> Update -> x64 -> dlcpacks
And there we should find our folder which in this example we have called "vinewood_house".
I show you another example already made. If you fully expand your newly created map folder, you will get here.
As you can see, in the end we have two folders.
One with the name of the folder, and one followed by "metadata".
Here comes the only thing you have to take into account to install the map.
In the folder:
Vinewood_house_metadata.rpf you will only put the YMAP, YTYP and YMF files.
**I would like to clarify something.
Some guides mention that YTD and YDD files also go in the METADATA folder, as they are texture dictionaries.
I'm not entirely clear and leave it to your research.**
In the other folder, you will put all the others.
And that's it, now as usual when installing a mod, go to this new address:
Here we will look for our dlclist file:
We will open it and place at the end the traditional line of:
<Item>dlcpacks:/vinewood_house/</Item>
*Use the name of your map mod, I have used this as an example to explain it.
And that's it! The map should now appear in our single player game.
WARNING: I am not responsible for other bugs or errors derived from the mods themselves, or that some MLOs destroy others already installed, this post just tries to explain with all the love in the world, how to have FiveM maps in single player.
Blessings.

@Fabito48hd Great work, excellent tutorial. The only thing else I would suggest is you describe where to put the props when a props folder is included with the mod.
-
@Fabito48hd Perfect!! Like out of a text book. Thanks dawg.
Not sure what I am doing wrong. I tried to turn this FiveM mod into a SP dlc but failed. All the walls vanished lol.

@gtavjamal I have installed it and the same thing happens to me, there is an empty space.
The MLO maps, have a bit of a mystery to me, and I'm not sure if we can install all the FiveM ones in SP, because if I'm honest, out of 10 that I try, 1 of them works fine.
Something is missing, but I'm not an expert, I've only learned how to install them.
But looking at all this, it is quite likely that something exists in FiveM that is incompatible with SP no matter how hard we try.
I download them and test them, usually there are collision errors, or empty spaces like this one you have.
But sometime they work perfectly and then I'm happy.

I just installed a solution which is very simple and fun. Install a FiveM private local server.
It took about 10 minutes to install and a couple hours to figure out where everything goes. The YouTube videos are often outdated garbage as is the documentation - I had a few references to paths that don't exist or refer to other types of servers or other types of installations. Lots of variations.Anyway I have a fully functional FiveM server and all MLOs load perfectly as expected. I even have Menyoo loaded and ScriptHook5 installed.
Only issue I have, and need to research, is while Menyoo works perfectly in FiveM multiplayer it crashes in FiveM story mode. The error messages are cryptic crap, but I just started Story Mode with FiveM so need to get up to speed.
There were a few hiccups. The latest download forced me to update my game! So i did a verify integrity, ran the server, and then restored my GTA5.exe (one file) to 2372.
Then i added this file to the config.
set sv_enforceGameBuild 2372
No more nags!If you guys go this route and need help, let me know. I've already solved lots of annoyances.

@Fabito48hd Thanks for taking the time and effort to test that. Apologies if I came across as asking to do so that wasn't my intention, it was just an off the cuff unfiltered comment as all my posts are but thanks again none the less.
@JohnFromGWN Genius! Sounds dope. Thanks for doing all that. When I get enough free time to dedicate and if ya offer still stands ill get back to you fo sure. Thanks again.

@gtavjamal The issue with Trainers and Storymode/SP in Fivem is fairly common but haven't found any intelligent discussions or solutions. It's like the Fivem community don't want to hear about it.
Having said that Menyoo works perfectly otherwise and you don't need storymode, just play regular Fivem yourself, and of course nothing stops you from inviting friends with port forwarding. I've spawned peds and vehicles and teleported with Menyoo in Fivem without any issues other than SP mode.
Converting from SP to FIVEM is also very simple.
One final note. FIVEM MLOS in FIVEM are rarely perfect. Collisions are fine but if you look long enough you'll often find minor texture glitches for example, just as you would using Mods in offline regular SP games.
The Fivem server is very easy to install and with Google as your friend you can find ways to solve issues and increase your knowledge. Unfortunately, as is the case with regular SP, there are tons of YouTube videos with bad or outdated advice and the Cfx community is pretty useless, probably because the experts make money off their servers and don't want to share.

@JohnFromGWN Thanks again dawg. Great info as always!!
Lately I've been checking out MLO map mods just out of curiosity. Tbh tho I I only have two MLO map mods installed due to next level quality and design. Plus compatible with snow on terrain.
https://www.gta5-mods.com/maps/malibu-mansion-add-on
https://www.gta5-mods.com/maps/mlo-designer-penthouse-remake-add-on-sp95% of the time I am using a vehicle. The only time I get out on foot is to use a weapon. For example get out of the car briefly to use a rocket launcher on the police helicopters or sniper some gang members in the distance lol.

The FiveM SP setup is a good option however Ideally I like to consolidate all my stuff into one game allowing more freedom / options in that game rather than having to re-start and change game files or move to another computer with another GTA V setup.
Btw. I considered using a FiveM server as my main SP game setup but FiveM cant run many of my vital mods so no dice.
Anyway...
Just mess'n around I tried another FiveM MLO conversion and no luck.
https://forum.cfx.re/t/hookah-lounge-free-mlo/4765067I've seen newer more complex MLO's converted to SP. I could be wrong but I'm guessing there is a way to convert all FiveM MLO's to SP.
Question. Is there anyone who can advise how to legit convert FiveM MLO's to SP please?

I could be wrong but I'm guessing there is a way to convert all FiveM MLO's to SP.
You aren't wrong but there isn't an easy way. Essentially anything on the FiveM client side can be ported to SP and vice versa. My experience is only a few weeks but I've converted simple scripts from SP to FiveM, addon peds, streaming peds, and normal peds. Also vehicles are easily converted.
Fact is they are both using the same game engine, but that's where similarities end.
MLOs are not easy conversions from FiveM to SP and unfortunately the conversion process, like the creation process itself, is not well documented. Additionally the conversion process requires expert knowledge of 3D modelling, codewalker, and all the associated file types, including the ybn static collisions which cause many issues. When i say expert knowledge, i mean to tackle the most complex maps, MLOs, and interiors. I've seen many half assed hack job conversions to SP.
Another issue is I've written many personal menus with Lemonui in SP which I would love to port to FiveM. Unfortunately the documentation is nonexistent. In fact, the documentation for LemonUI SP is wonderful if you're an experienced programmer but totally lacking for non programmers like myself. It took me several months of trial and error and experimentation to be able to reach a level where LemonUI menus are my bitch in SP. With documentation and examples honestly ii would have been hours not months because it isn't rocket science.
Many times ive gone to the LemonUI discord and received immediate help from Lemon himself. I invariably leave knowing less than i did, and full of self doubt, because his advice is way beyond my comprehension. I guess Im too mentally retarded to understand anything he is suggesting and he will never offer a code snippet or example, it's all theoretical or a link is provided to better understand the concept of inheritance, as an example.
At least he means well.
On the other side of the coin are the experts who create some amazing MLOs for sale. Don't expect them to share any knowledge.
The biggest bullshit are the tutorial videos on YouTube. They essentially choose one simple MLO to convert to SP. Try their process on a slightly different or more complex MLO and it's an instant fail.
Finally beware of all these magical online or downloadable 100% guaranteed FiveM to conversion SP tools. That's another worthless crock of shit.
When I have time, I'll figure out how to make a LemonUI conversion to SP or from scratch and share and document it. As a more ambitious project I want to develop expertise in Codewalker and a better understanding of MLO creation to possibly do conversions myself, if that's possible without using 3d modeling software in the process. Not sure i have the time or skills, certainly don't have the knowledge, but will give it my best shot.
When I started modding I was overwhelmed with the jargon, particularly since I had never played the game. But a few months into it I was able to fix any mod issue as well as write c# programs which aren't elegant but get the job done.
Such a shame that documentation in general, on anything modding related, is so poor and that the experts are very reluctant to share their knowledge when there's a buck to be made.

Quick answer is no. Many know how to do it but they won't share unless you pay them. Also you may have noticed that many of the modders here are asked if their SP peds or vehicles are FiveM ready and they say no or don't know.
Fact is these conversions, from SP to FiveM, are a joke and in fact documented because they are so ridiculously easy that trying to keep the process secret is impossible. I've done all the ped types and vehicles. The MLOs are the killers. As you install. MLOs and peak inside the folder you'll realize the diversity is huge, much more than SP, meaning different processes for conversions. Some also include scripts and some require mysql/databases.
-
In passing, there is a tutorial here as well, which has some good information but it isn't cohesive or comprehensive. In other words definitely not a solution for beginners and probably of very little value to an intermediate or advanced creator.
https://forums.gta5-mods.com/topic/32346/porting-fivem-mods-to-sp
@Fabito48hd has the right approach here, clear, step by step, and illustrated. Unfortunately it only handles the simplest conversions.
I remember watching one waste of time youtube video where the standard conversion failed and the presenter said, that's because we need to delete some files. So he went in OpenIV folders, and from a viewer's perspective, randomly deleted files without any explanation whatsoever as to what or why he was deleting. Totally useless shit.
-
@JohnFromGWN Dayuuum thanks dawg for the in depth explanation I appreciate your time and efforts as always! Thanks to the tutorial link i'll check that out.
Also props to Fabito48hd for the dope tutorial. Not his fault it doesn't work for many conversions.
If anyone can figure out a solid way to get the conversions done it's you. If you get time look forward to seeing how that pans out.
It's all way over my head but I noticed the folder structure the conversion tool uses is commonly used for these conversions. Makes me wonder if some pre-made conversions just require a small tweak to get working? One example was a FiveM to SP port hosted on this site since been taken down. It was a Rockford Hills house interior (big white one with columns just down the road around the corner from Michael's house). Same folder structure but that didn't work. Seems to be that collision issue thing. Enter the front door and fall into a void lol.
Btw. If it's not too much to ask please. Any chance you know how to get FiveM props working in SP? I found these dope free Halloween props but have no idea where they would go.

Thanks for the vote of confidence but I'm not overly optimistic after having researched this extensively. Aside from a few MLO specific conversions on YouTube, exactly the same process as @Fabito48hd, i wasn't able to find any documented processes.
There are requests on FiveM forums and reddit but they are all unanswered or point to the videos above. Consequently I stopped searching and installed FiveM and I'm glad i did.
Unfortunately I don't have the time or patience to convert all my peds, vehicles, and scripts to FiveM. On the other side of the coin I don’t have the knowledge, documentation, nor expertise to convert MLO's properly, without issues.
Like you id rather have everything under one platform, SP for sure because FiveM is a business not a community.
My knowledge of 3D modelling is conceptual, not practical, and limited to some Blender. If it is a requirement to convert from FiveM to SP i won't proceed further because i have no aspirations to become a 3D modeller.
If however an extensive knowledge of codewalker, which i don't presently have, is what it requires I'll take the plunge and try to convert.
As i write this it really hits me that the conversion process is so poorly documented that i don't even know for sure what skills and knowledge are essential. Based on the shitty videos, only OpenIV was necessary.
Just to end on a somewhat negative note, i think 3D software will be required to fix collisions and if so that's a deal breaker.

You might want to learn a little bit more about the file types before tackling something as potentially complicated as an mlo conversion.
The file type ycd refers to animations.
