So now the game crashes when scrolling through the clothes menus....

  • Finally gave in and loaded all the new dlc (crap) as there was a glitch with bodyguards freaking out at the first sign of trouble in the hope that would fix it. Haven't gotten to that yet as now when scrolling through clothes after a while, the game just craps out. Checked both the Menyoo and Scripthook logs and they aren't the problem. No, it's our old nemesis:

"Faulting application name: GTA5.exe, version: 1.0.2699.0, time stamp: 0x62d9a9e4
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7601.24545, time stamp: 0x5e0eb6bd
    Exception code: 0xc0000005"

I'll be checking my other trainers to see if the same thing happens. I already hate this (spits) update....

  • @iammistahwolf is it when you get to the last slot? If yes, that's a known issue from previous patch.

  • @JohnFromGWN Yeah, I didn't have an issue with that with the previous update. I deleted the line from the dlclist with mpg9ec and it still crashes when scrolling through clothes. Also 'R' just stuck clothes in at random instead of adding them to the end of the grouping so now I get weird textures on even vanilla legs. I would get rid of the dlc altogether, but I'm trying to find out what's causing bodyguards to shit the bed and start running the first sign of trouble. It happens on all trainers. I guess all their 'enhanced' bull$#!% is messing everything up. These last 3 updates have caused more problems and this is the worst of the bunch.

  • @iammistahwolf

It's a shame how each update breaks things so at some point you should consider Steam and reverting. Reverting allows you to essentially keep all functionality and stability. While some newer mods might not be backwards compatible, you can work around that by swapping in versions of GTA5.exe. Not the best solution but still simple and effective.

My game is updated but i use 2372 exe for SP and the current version exe with a private local installation of Fivem.

The GTA5.exe is swapped automatically when I start either one. So instead of using shortcuts to start the game, i use batch files.

One file creates a Menu to select mods to load, then starts Steam and automatically enters account name and password, and starts GTA5 SP. Effortlessly.

Another batch file starts Fivem server and also the client.

Unfortunately you can't revert AFAIK with Epic or retail. It's surprising nobody since 2015 has figured out how to fool the game in to thinking it's updated. Perhaps a registry flag. I can vouch that Steam is setting something to that effect because you update once and no more nags. Ofc if you do a verify integrity it will once more update all files.

It is conceivable that a December patch or the next summer update will cause even more damage. Who knows what will break and will someone be around to fix it?

  • @iammistahwolf I hear ya. I reverted back myself. I looked at the new dlc cars and wasn't too impressed with them. The new helicopter looked lazily put together. So I'm just gonna keep it reverted for now. Once this gets to the point where we can't fix this so we can continue modding it, I will just go on to something else.

  • @JohnFromGWN I was wanting to check out some of the new materials and spaces (if any). It took so long to clean up from the two 'contract' fiascoes I just don't have the desire to bother with this latest one. And there's constant crashing with the 'motel/convenience store' in El Rancho each time they update. I've taken out everything associated with streaming from the mod to get it working, there's nothing left now with this crap. What irks me is watching those YT vids where 'vanilla drones' go on about 'how interesting the content has been with each update.' Rehashed clothes with godawful designs, vehicles and properties that you have to shell out 'real money' or 'eternally grind' to purchase and 'heists' where you spend 5x the amount of money for 'prep' and 'acquisition' than the payout! I was done with the Casino and Cayo heists. The whole 'tuner' thing was boring and everytime 'R' has the opportunity to knock that shit out of the park, they 'bunt'. If it weren't for modding and roleplay, I would have bailed on this years ago....

  • @oldtimergamer6351 You ain't wrong....

  • So, I went through and ditched all the 'g9ec' crap and haven't gotten a game crash from clothes (yet). Still getting weird textures in spots, but no doubt from 'R' being lazy and randomly putting in rehash clothes with different textures in traditional spots instead of just dumping it all at the end like usual. Also still have to see where mod maps are causing crashes. Only found one (so far.) Thanks for all the tips btw....
