How do I play this?
-
Can someone please tell me how to play and what I need to start? Ive been watching several poeple play this game and I wabt to play. I am a police officer myself and this looks like so much fun. I know its a big ask but what exactly do I need as far as a PC and the mods and how to use them. Do I need to upload something everyday? Thank you so much, I appreciate it.

Would recommend you open a free account with Steam and purchase the game here. Steam version of game has advantages when updates cause problems with modded games.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/271590/Grand_Theft_Auto_V/
The Steam page will give you the recommended requirements for your hardware. You want to ideally exceed those, particularly if you will mod. Generally speaking, you want a powerful PC for gaming even though this game is old. The more mods you install, the more complex and large the mods, the more you will need good CPU, GPU, SSDs, and memory.
Once you have your game purchased and installed, then come back for modding help. You should ensure your game works well before you start installing mods.
As a policeman, this might be of interest.

Seems like a lot to me. I think Im going to just watch. I want to play bad but I think this is beyond my scope of how to do things.
-
@beasy1975 C'mon dawg you can do this! You being a cop and all i'm sure you deal with way more complicated stuff lol. Just take time out on a Sunday afternoon and go through it all slowly. Well worth the time and effort!!
-
@beasy1975 sorry if i scared you.
You don't need a Steam account (which is free), just buy the game from GameSpot or Amazon or wherever you buy games. You don't need mods either, game is fun right out of the box. You'll need a Rockstar account, just give them an email account for this purpose, no need to give them your real name or any personal info.

yes the game is fun @JohnFromGWN. I want to play as a police officer. Thats why I want to play the game.

@beasy1975 Dope. To play as a cop you need this link as JohnFromGWN said dawg.

OK, i have decided that I am going to bote the bullet and play. IS it better to play on a PC (I know a PC is or could be more expensive, with motherboard and video and audio card, RAM, etc) or A gaming laptop? Is there some place I can go to buy a gaming PC? I really dont want to build or pay someone to build one for me. I know laptops or usually less expensive but you can upgrade them. How hard or easy is it to install a mod? How my MODS will I have to install to play a legit game? I am sure I need to install as many as I can to get cars, lights and uniforms. Thanks again. I am sure that I will have more questions as I think of them.

A desktop PC is the way to go for gaming unless portability is critical. They are also easily upgradable, particularly for adding additional hard drives or memory. In passing audio cards are for audio enthusiasts and professionals, gamers don't need them. They are not included on most desktops, audio is integrated.
In my opinion, other than being portable, laptops in general are garbage for gaming and can be even more expensive than desktops. Almost everything is integrated on the motherboard to save space and upgrading a laptop can be a challenge. Just opening up is much more difficult than a desktop and if not careful you can break it.
Laptops have smaller screens, generally speaking, which obviously can't be upgraded, smaller keyboards, and worst of all the batteries, chargers, and charging circuitry on the mobo can fail with time.
You should do your own research, this is just my biased opinion.
As for how many mods to install? Who cares. They're free and can be installed or uninstalled quickly. Start with a few and assess.
Remember also that there are incredible games available on PC, so your purchase will go far beyond GTA5.

@JohnFromGWN I appreciate the help. I ONLY want to play GTA and be a cop. Other then that I am not interested in other games at all. I am super busy and I think if I become a gamer it will take away from other things I do and have going on. I know my thinking and wanting to only play GTA doesnt make sense but I have an idea in my head. I am currently fighting the gaming demons as to play a ton of games or just GTA. Thanks. I appreciate all and any feedback that you have.
Is it easy to add MODS? Is it something for a beginner like me to do?
-
@beasy1975 Very easy. Like anything else you need to familiarize yourself with the environment. Important thing is to pay attention to details when you're installing - to make sure things go where they are supposed to.

The specs are similar to mine and you'll have no problems playing. un-modded the game will be perfectly smooth and have really fast loading. for monitors just pick what you need and don't waste money buying super high priced ones just because someone says it's the best.
I have two 1080p monitors running at 60 hertz since I don't care about 4K and ultra high fps hitting 100 and higher. this suits my needs and never had problems doing it this way for years.
-
@MegaTBull what do you mean un modded? I only want to play with mods. I can play the game on console if I want unmodded. I think is what you are referreing too.
-
@beasy1975
Those specs are perfectly fine modded or not.
Monitor wise you can get whatever you like really. If you can, I'd go for higher than 60hz since they're on the cheaper side nowadays but it's not necessary so just get what you can.

A PC is only as good as its weakest component. What's good for someone playing chess online isn't necessarily what's best for someone playing CS or a racing simulation or NHL 2023. Those are your needs, certainly not mine.
@beasy1975
GTA5 is an old game and the recommended system requirements are easily met, but please do your own research with respect to your PC hardware and monitor. For the latter, the monitor, take into account resolution, refresh rate, and response time, as well as colour saturation etc. Best to make the right choice rather than regret it later.You'll be spending good money on your PC, monitor, and possibly keyboard, mouse, router etc if those are required or upgraded. Right now you're focused on one game only, GTA5 from 2015, but consider the possibility you might want GTA6 or other police or non police games in the near future.
In other words, ensure your specs will keep you happy beyond GTA5. And it's ok to get opinions here, but please do your own research on reputable sites before you purchase.
P.s. yes, the specs for the PC you're considering are fine, although I'd consider 32GB of RAM. Can’t comment on the quality of the PC however. Motherboard, and ofc this is just my opinion, is the most critical component. You don't want it to fail. Everything else can easily be replaced. Personally I would never buy a PC.
-
@beasy1975 I was telling you how the game will run without mods, with mods there is a chance you will get a performance drop depending on what you decide to use. lightweight mods won't do anything but heavier mods will so keep that in mind once you start using certain things.
Other than that you'll have zero problems running GTA5 since it's an old game now as well as having no problem running other games because of the specs on the pc you mentioned especially when its equipped with a good graphics card.

@JohnFromGWN
Lol why 32GB of ram? That is a bit overkill. 16GB is fine for any average person/gamer.
