GTA 5 Crashing on Load - ucrtbase.dll
-
Game was working fine until yesterday (latest update 2699). Had a BIOS update for my motherboard today - everything else works fine but GTA 5 crashes to desktop with no explicit error.
OpenIV.log
does not show anydlc.rpf
as the culprit. The game loads - before I'm able to play, the screen remains black (after the loading screens) and then crashes to desktop in a couple of seconds.Checked Event Viewer and saw the following error:
Faulting application name: GTA5.exe, version: 1.0.2699.0, time stamp: 0x62d9ac71 Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.22621.436, time stamp: 0xf5fc15a3 Exception code: 0xc0000409 Fault offset: 0x000000000007f61e Faulting process id: 0x0x22F0 Faulting application start time: 0x0x1D8B6B9BB3BB08D Faulting application path: F:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\GTA5.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucrtbase.dll Report Id: 3d713cee-2a11-4b0f-a0da-2148335aa179 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID:
Not sure what this ucrtbase.dll is but never seen it before. Searching online didn't yield much; there was a suggestion to turn off 'Windows Audio Service' and start the game but the game doesn't even launch if I do that.
All other games work fine - so the computer itself is fine. Something is messed up with GTA 5 - not sure if files got corrupted during the BIOS update (seems odd it would only be for this game though).
Would appreciate any help with this.

@Suzerain001 said in GTA 5 Crashing on Load - ucrtbase.dll:
Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucrtbase.dll
Never encountered that before, but if not done already, try running a SFC (System File Checker) scan & re-registering 'ucrtbase.dll'. Option #1 & #3 here
Also try reinstalling any Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages you have (Option #4 in above link).
Reinstalling GTA V is also worth a shot.

Reinstalling GTA V is also worth a shot.- Ran SFC /SCANNOW - it did not find any integrity violations
- Re-registering ucrtbase.dll does not work - I get the following error:
I even tried a System Restore but it failed saying it couldn't find a file (!!).
Goddamn is my OS corrupted?

@Suzerain001
That just means that '.dll' isn't one that can be registered (it's missing 'DllRegisterServer' etc). Just ignore the error.
Never encountered a 'ucrtbase.dll' error in regards to GTA V before, so I'm all out of ideas. All I can really recommend is reinstalling the game & then perhaps Windows if that doesn't work. Sorry.

@a63nt-5m1th finally figured it out - it was a graphics mod (QuantV) that was causing the crash - not sure if it was because of some update etc. but it started happening as soon as I installed new firmware & BIOS on the computer.
Removed QuantV and it works perfectly now. Using another graphics mod and all is well.
