No dirt mappings in .ytd file for modded vehicles, how to change?
-
Hello there,
I have been trying to install a mod that gives vehicles raindrop textures instead of vehicles getting dirty. All vehicles (vanilla ones) get the rain textures, however, all of the vehicles (both additional DLC and replacement ones (like police, police2, fbi etc)) are not affected by the rain mod. And when I take a look in the .ytd files of those cars, they seem to not have a dirt texture in them. Even if I place the rain texture in there, it does not affect them. So where do these vehicles get their dirt mappings from, and how could I solve this problem?
Mod I am reffering to: https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/raindrop-texture-4k-8k-kairu
Thanks already for the support!

AFAIK, GTA5 only has one dirt map ( 3 textures) so searching for it in YTD is not going to help. Some cars may have custom dirt maps but I think that's an exception, and model would need to be UV Mapped.

@Cosmic-Shadow Not every addon vehicles have same/proper dirt mapping if they even have.
Some comes with their own dirt mapping, which you need to find the dirt texture in their ytd and replace it with the raindrop texture. Problem though the rain textures most probably won't look properly since the UV mapping won't be the same. You may see blocky textures or only at some spesific areas instead of covering the whole vehicle.
If the vehicle doesn't have a dirt mapping, simply adding a texture inside it's ytd won't activate the texture. and the name of the texture needs to be the same with the one added into the model.
The only way to solve it is either try your luck by asking the author or usin zmodeler to add it yourself. There may be some people or groups can do this per requests too maybe.
If you wish this for only 1 or 2 vehicle you absolutely love and use 90% of the time, you may try these. but if you wish them to be enabled like 10-20 cars, my advice for you to be not bother

Thanks for the information. As of right now I have been trying to contact the owner about the car, as I am trying to improve the overall model to be more movie accurate. In the end it might not work indeed.
Right now I am trying to replicate a light underneath the hood, this is also quite hard as I only started out doing this a week ago, do you maybe have an idea of how to replicate this light?
