going online (without mods)

Hey, so I am new to modding I am interested in trying out some for story mode. I have no intention on trying to use them online (not worth the risk) but my question is how I do make sure nothing is active if I go online after playing around with them. I don't want to risk accidentally leaving something switched on and online thinks I'm trying to use it. Thanks.

I have a quick question!!! Its a stuipd one!!!! So can you download these mods on to your x box one your 360 and use them??
