rpf file error - unable to open archive unknown file format or archive is corrupted
-
Hello everyone, today I wanted to install a mod but I get error when I click "streamedpeds_mp.rpf" file. It says "Unable to open archive unknown file format or archive is corrupted". Anybody knows how to fix it? I added a screenshot here
also I notice there is a column | where a slash \ should be but I cannot change it in any way. I don't know if it's a problem

@enesakilli try opening the rpf with CodeWalker, RPF Explorer. And the rebuild option.
If it then still fails, try dragging out the modded content to preserve it, then delete the entire containing rpf from your mods folder and start over

@ReNNie Thank you, I tried to open with RPF Explorer but I can't see the file on it. It was in the x64v.rpf file. I can see 22 files with openIV but I can see only 14 files with RPF Explorer.

@enesakilli
If all else fails, if you can't see the file, and you have a legal version of GTA 5, just do a verify integrity and restore your rpf.Obviously you will lose all customizations and modifications to x64v.rpf.
I'm guessing if you can't see the file in RPF Explorer it's because it's corrupt beyond belief. Try updating Code Walker although this is definitely not a new package.
Let me guess, you installed mods using an OIV? Make sure when editing in OpenIV that GTA5 isn't running, file should be locked but shit happens.

@JohnFromGWN Unfortunately there seems to be no other way. I deleted the non-working part "streamedpeds_mp.rpf" in x64v.rpf in the mods folder and copied the working file in the root folder instead. I don't know how much is lost in it but it was a temporary solution at least. Thanks for your help ))

@JohnFromGWN Actually, I take care to not load mods while the game is open. I can't understand why this is happening. I've been installing mods for years, but this is the first time something like this has happened to me.
-
@enesakilli did you figure out why you couldn't see all the X.rpf files in CW?
-
@enesakilli I leave OpenIV open quite often while testing, so it's safe, but again shit happens particularly when files are being written as the game crashes.
-
@JohnFromGWN Yes, because it's so broken. When I put the working file in Root file, instead of the corrupted one, it appears in the CW.
Yes it's too bad, it takes a lot of time to enter and exit the game, I wanted to do it while the game was open, but I couldn't take the risk.

@enesakilli said in rpf file error - unable to open archive unknown file format or archive is corrupted:
I wanted to do it while the game was open, but I couldn't take the risk.
Actually there shouldn't be any risk of making changes while GTA5 is running because windows won't allow it.
While you can leave OpenIV open while playing, you can't make any changes, even through windows explorer, because the files are now locked for the session. You can make changes to scripts thankfully, with Visual Studio etc, because relaunching the game is definitely a PITA, but that's the exception, you can reload scripts in game. Same with Fivem.
The real risk is that every time the game, or any software in general, crashes there is a possibility of file corruption when a write operation is being made, for example during an autosave or changes to config/settings file in game.

@JohnFromGWN which technically should not ever corrupt a rpf. Still more or less convinced OpenIV in itself is the biggest danger when it comes to an issue as this (even though I always leave it open when going ingame myself), and ofc OpenIV and CW are a big nono on the same rpf
