I just beat Error Code 16 with 2372
-
Some good news. I can now play modded with 2372, my reverted game. But not completely out of the woods yet.
How did I solve this? Well I thought to myself, the people who work at Rockstar are morons. I hope everyone agrees with that. So, then I thought morons are too stupid to close all the loopholes right?
The solution is so obvious and simple it's ridiculous. Not going to post it here for 2 reasons. One I'm not quite finished. Secondly I don't want R* to shut this workaround down.
The good news? I can play 2372 without getting the Code 16 error. No piracy, no modifications, just a very very very simple solution requiring basic knowledge of the command line. And no, I'm not disabling the internet, not offline.
The bad news? I still have collision issues with Liberty City even thought i reverted.
I think I know why and I think i can fix it. It shouldn't have anything to do with the new activation checks because I bypassed them --- I"m back on version 2372 but some of my files need to be reverted back as well to fix LC.
Stay tuned. Will share the solution if it delivers on the promise.

Update:
Ok, so I can play with 2372, this is confirmed in the build as I load as well.
However I don't have collisions in Liberty City - which is the only problematic mod that I tested. Now here's the frustrating part. My game is always updated except for 2 files. I use the 2372 versions of GTA5.exe and SH5. Everything else is updated including the launcher.
I've been doing this for years now and have never had issues with any reverts.
However there is one difference now and only one difference that I can identify. Because SH5 checks for version match with GTA5.exe I was forced to update SH5.
That's the only thing that is different from my previous reverted game.
Now here's the catch. I can't revert SH5 with the process I"m using. So I'm stuck with the new version of SH5 and I can't test my workaround with the 2372 version of SH5.
Yes, I understand SH5 is supposed to be backwards compatible but once more that's the only difference. Unless of course, R* not only changed the activation process but also added a second layer to destroy Liberty City? I don't think so.
I'm done for the day. Will try to think what could be causing this issue. Anyway, the good news is that i got past the launcher errors was finally able to play 2372.

I'm jealous. CongratulationsI'm still stuck in Infinite Loading.

@gtavjamal do you trust me? Don't waste your time with crap like this.
I've tried every way imaginable to bypass involving the internet.
It may work once, if you're lucky, but this game requires activation and constant verification.
-
@JohnFromGWN Lol I trust nobody but don't take it personally. Just how I was raised. No such thing as friends in the traditional sense only temporary alliances.
Anyway...
Apparently it seems to work depending on the version??
I don't know doesn't apply to me but wishing you all the best with it.

@gtavjamal I'm not trying to sell you anything lol.
I meant do you trust my statement when I say I've tested something thoroughly and can guarantee you it doesn't make any sense?
Unlike most YouTubers, I'm not out for views, notifications, subscriptions, and patreon begging. I only post solutions I've thoroughly tested and put a disclaimer when appropriate because obviously what works for me won't necessarily work for someone else.
But there are certain things that aren't debatable. For example that you can play GTA5 without the R* launcher phoning home, not every time, but eventually it will. That's why you'll find hundreds of requests going back to 2015 to bypass the launcher. There is even a failed mod on this site to bypass the launcher.
It can't be done without software or cracked software.
anyway, you're right not to trust others.
-
@JohnFromGWN how constant for verification do you reckon? I've been using the outbound rule method for a few days now and haven't had a problem with authenticating or verifying with my 2612 revert yet,
but when I finally do get the verification problem, do you know if I'd be able to update the launcher and social club to current version in order to verify, then revert it back to continue playing reverted?
-
If what you did the first time worked, it will probably work if you repeat.
Let us know.
I've given up for now but perhaps later, rather than try to defeat Rockstar, I'll try to reanable the ybn files.
