REQUEST - HOW TO SETUP OUTBOUND RULES TO REVERT ROCKSTAR LAUNCHER VID

For those who have been stumped by the newest rockstar launcher update and error 16 for reverted games FEAR NOT for here is a step by step guide on how to temporarily beat the system and play REAL VR on version 2612 which is the most optimised version for REAL VR

So that the launcher doesn't automatically update to the newest version you need to block internet connections to the rockstar launcher via control panel/windows firewall defender/advanced settings.
Here you have to make a new outbound rule - select program and the program path to the rockstar launcher.exe (Location : program files/rockstar games/launcher) (i also did the same for rockstar launcher service.exe and patcher.exe just in case) -
IN THIS PARTICULAR ORDER - open and download social club 2.1.6.7 from the setup.exe and then rockstar launcher setup.exe file version v1337 (which is actually 2.1.6.7) from the gta v game directory folder 'Installers' and setup the rockstar launcher (MAKE SURE YOU'VE SETUP THE OUTBOUND RULES TO PREVENT AUTO UPDATE)
DON'T BE A DINGUS AND MAKE SURE TO SAVE A BACKUP COPY OF THE SOCIAL CLUB SETUP.EXE AND ROCKSTAR LAUNCHER SETUP.EXE SO YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE CORRECT LAUNCHER/SOCIAL CLUB REVERTS IN CASE ROCKSTAR DECIDE TO UPDATE THE INSTALLATION FILES! AND ALSO MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ROCKSTAR GAMES LAUNCHER FOLDER UNDER PROGRAM FILES

Congratulations! If you've got this far you now have a reverted rockstar games launcher and social club which you can use to continue playing your beautifully reverted gta v v2612 - if you have gta v on steam make sure to go on OFFLINE MODE to prevent steam auto updating the game

Now open the rockstar launcher and sign in. Now you've signed in it's time to DISABLE THE OUTBOUND RULES. (To make sure you're using rockstar launcher v2.1.6.7 go to settings and it should be displayed on the left of the window.)
Now Rockstar launcher can finally communicate with steam and is the last piece of the puzzle able to open/allow GTA V.
- Launch GTA V via Steam in offline mode and get your VR sea legs ready cuz it's gonna be a heckin' ride!
Note - I've always launched the game via steam, not sure if that has any impact on my overwhelming success rate so far or not
Edit - so far I've only had to disable the outbound rules the very first time before launching the game, every other time I have been able to leave the outbound rules enabled! One less thing to have to worry about! 🤘

P.S I'm not sure if you'll get the same result on different reverted versions of GTA V or different reverted versions of rockstar launcher/social club and I have the steam version of GTA V.
I must emphasize that my results are very specific to my particular GTA v/rockstar launcher/social club versions and I've only got REAL VR installed so I can't say if any other mods will work but by all means give it a go with different versions/mods and let me know in the thread how you get on.
It should go without saying only use this method for SINGLE PLAYER, don't be a punk a'ight? 👍

P.P.S Remember to enable/disable the outbound rules each time you want to open rockstar launcher to prevent updates
You also may be able to simply disable your internet instead, i haven't tried that but I'm scared to test it out since this method has worked for me so far haha

Everyone who can power on a computer figured out days ago that trying to block the launcher would fix this issue.
It doesn't.
You can fix the error only by upgrading.
I was able to trick the launcher with another method but abandoned it because Rockstar put in several layers of additional crap.
Don't waste your time with this.

You obviously don't understand how the Rockstar process works. You can play with it, in fact I found a way to play reverted, but collisions were broken for LC.
I'm glad you've fooled yourself into thinking you've found a permanent solution, but sadly you haven't. Could be today, tomorrow, the next time you launch, either one of two things will happen and like death and taxes it can't be avoided.
- Launcher will try to update itself despite you super innovative technique of disabling internet or using a firewall or similar approach.
- Regardless of 1, and I know this from more tests than you can imagine, their is already code in the engine itself (RAGE is a great name) to check for complete installations - which means latest version.
You won't be back to confess you were wrong, so good luck with your fixed game and enjoy it while you can.

Yeah 2612 is the most stable and optimized version for REAL VR I believe
I've only had to resign into the rockstar launcher once before reverting, if it asks me to do it again I should be able to simply update to the newest version, sign in, and then do the process I have explained above and continue my life as the happy GTA V REAL VR gamer I am
So i should only have to revert the launcher about once a week given the sign in requirement rate , right? - annoying but a fair trade off to keep playing reverted
Thanks for the insight regarding the code stuff bud and trust me I massively appreciate all the work you're doing to find fixes for the most popular versions, I haven't has any problems as of yet but I'll absolutely put an update on here if and when it happens, least I can do pal

I apologize if I was rude, but you have no idea how frustrated I"m feeling.
I've spent hours customizing, modding and scripting, only to have most of my installed maps broken. One day you're in seemingly complete control of your modded game, the next it is broken and you feel totally powerless.All maps can be fixed, one by one, but why bother if R* will break them again tomorrow, next week, or with the summer patch?
I also realized, after quite a bit of research, that the Goldberg emulator is for pirated games only.
If someone wants to challenge that statement, then let them post a step by step tutorial. It doesn't exist. The compatibility list for the Goldberg Emu does not list GTA 5. All references I found to Goldberg emu involved cracked executables - either the game ones or the social club (RGSC) one.
Once more, if the Goldberg emu can be used with a legal version, let someone post a working guide - until then I'm refusing to believe it works for legal copies.
No guide, no credibility, just talking out of your ass is the way I see it.

@JohnFromGWN hey no worries at all dude, I totally get it, we're all feeling it, and I've jumped into making a post without having hardly any modding experience because I'm just so excited that I'm able to get it working presently, but like you said, it will most likely stop working after a while so I'm not getting my hopes up, at least I can play it for today (or however hours or minutes I have left)
Oh mate I'm not using a cracked version just a reverted version of the steam gta v.exe that I bought from Steam...or is that still a cracked version? My modding knowledge isn't very vast I'm afraid haha!

Sorry if you got that impression. Never thought that. I was off topic there, mentioned the Goldberg emu because I always thought this day might come and this might be the solution.
But unless someone can prove me wrong, and I really hope they can, this emu involves pirated copies of the game or at the very least cracking of files - both wonderful ways to get infected.

Be honest, was there a particular reason you selected v1612 (is it your birthday by December 16?) or did you just throw a super random number out of the blue?
First and foremost, there is no v1612 version of gta 5,
The only results come up when I search v1612 or 1.0.1612 is this topic and the rest of it are fake websites;
I'm on version 1.0.1868.1 and I can say with a guarantee my version never let me play offline no matter what I do with launcher and social club. I was never able to play offline looooonngg before Error 16 happened. Just to give you the idea, when Cayo Perico released (2 title updates higher) my 1.50 version stopped working offline.
and here you are bullshitting an even earlier version (which very well is fake) can work after 20 more title updates....
Oh and speaking of my version, this is how results change to real sites when you right a correct version;

That also, the game not working properly after cracking.
Even the bypass mod, which is still hostedhere, apparently would cause crashing.
That's a shame because if it was robust I would go out and buy the EPGS version, revert it if possible to find the exe, and then use that bypass mod forever.

I think @MissySnowie will realize that now. It was just an typo mistake. You don't have to prove anything. I believe you but I also believe your fix is just a tedious workaround..unfortunately.
Like I said before, we're all angry and mad right now to be treated like garbage by Rockstar even though, unlike pirates, we paid for the game.

but anyways, maybe in your mind you actually confused the numbers I won't judge 
Well, even if that is true, one way or another, your solution can only work for a limited period of time. I'm not sure how long to be exact. but at some point when you open the game you will get error "Social Club failed to verify the ownership of game" and there isn't any way to bypass this while staying offline in legit version.
Anyways, thank for your help, but this isn't a long term fix
And they are blocking every ways being done that involves legit games. Without some proper deep level solutions, you can't fool a software that is spesifically designed by well paid engineers for years to keep you online and updated just by plugging the internet cable.

R* are way too stupid to do this themselves but there are experts in DRM who do this for a living.If you're in an offline environment the possibilities are endless.
If you're in a client server environment you're SOL (for non native english speakers, that means Shit Out of Luck).There is an excellent reason why pirates can't play online (except LAN) - because pirated games don't verify.

Pirate Site: No you stupid moron, you can't defeat Rockstar's bulletproof authentification process. That's why you block the exes from phoning home.

@MissySnowie haha yeah that's exactly right, I memorized the version months ago and hadn't properly checked the version since, as I know exactly where the version is in my files, but obviously because it was a while ago since I actually memorized it my poo poo jelly brain muddled the numbers, my bad!
I agree it isn't a long term fix but for those wanting to play REAL VR in it's final dying moments, I hope this post thread can provide a few lasting moments of happiness for you as it is for me

P.S. The reason all the gaming platforms (Ubiconnect, Ubiplay, Steam, RGSC, Epic Games, Microsoft Live, etc) have accounts isn't because they care about you.
It's not because there are advantages to having an account.
The reason they force you to have an account (or more if you're on Steam + Ubi or RS etc) is for anti-piracy.
You are treated like a potential criminal.
The best part is that they know you've paid for the game because they have a record of your payment - but they keep making you prove it, over and over.
Only a hacker could play my paid games on Steam and if that were the case, Steam wouldn't lose revenue because I paid for the game so the hacker can now play it.

Quite true. This is also why even when gaming platforms do a Free Week / Free Weekend event, you can't play those games online with a randomly generated temporary Guest account. Free or not, they will force you to create an account.
