Car Replacement Issues

  • Has anyone downloaded cars from Super Prisoner on LibertyCitydotNet? Some I get from him are dlc files but all his replacements dont say which car to replace and its frustrating because he has good models. Lmk asap! Thanks in advance

  • @Slimdogmillionaire

If you want proper help, you should provide links.

I have no idea what cars you're trying to replace but you essentially can replace any car.

Just remember to replace the most current patch because duplicates occur and try to choose a model with similar characteristics if you don't have the knowledge to edit meta data such as vehicles.meta.

  • @JohnFromGWN For sure, link is attached below. Im not too fond of replacements so far. I was under the impression i could drag/drop these files into vehicles.rpf in oiv and then good to go, but the ytd files arent named the corresponding vanilla vehicle. ive seen this car used first hand, so know it works. Just dont have the knowledge to do so.

  • @Slimdogmillionaire

Just rename your files, whatever you want to replace, and dump them in an rpf.

My game isn't updated, but as an example I dump them here:
    `\patchday25ng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf\

Just remember that the car you replace will have meta data for handling etc. So you want to replace with a similar vehicle. With experience, or do a google search, you can edit the meta data afterwards (for the replaced car) so that it handles the way you want.

The problem with replace vehicles is that often you will see 100 of exactly the same model spawning at the same time on the same streets. There are other files you can edit to change the proportions or where they spawn but I find that a huge PITA.

99% of my vehicles are addons.

  • Sounds good, I appreciate the assistance and insight. Thank you for your time!

  • @JohnFromGWN Hi John, want to update you on the situation. To begin, I have done ONE replacement prior to the linked rx7 to which i drag/dropped files into mods/x64.e/levels/gta5/vehicles.rpf per the instructions which worked fine. So i renamed rx7 files to banshee and then repeated steps above^ However, thru Menyoo the banshee is still vanilla and not an rx7. From what I can tell the car IS in oiv because the file sizes are muchh larger than others obviously being vanilla. Do you think I should drop the files somewhere else? I am running game config for the Last Dose update so id imagine my games pretty updated unlike yours.

  • I see it here in model viewer but when i spawn it in sp its just a vanilla banshee im so confused

  • @Slimdogmillionaire

    Current banshee vehicle files location:

Rockstar use 'patchday##ng' (## = numbers) folder structures to update/patch vehicles, you want to replace the vehicle model/texture files ('.yft' & '.ytd' etc) in the highest numbered 'patchday##ng' folder structure you find them in

Banshee vehicle files loaded by the game by default (at the moment/current patch) are here:

    ...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday25ng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf

Search for files by name in OpenIV:

Just to be sure you don't have any other banshee model/texture files kicking about, hit Ctrl+F3 in OpenIV to open the Search box & search for the banshee model/texture files by name. You can use the drop-down to select the search parameters & search mods folder only, or game folder only (default vanilla files) or everywhere.

When you download a replacement vehicle, especially older ones, you want to check (using the Ctrl+F3 Search) whether Rockstar have updated that vehicle & added it to a higher 'patchday##ng' & whether the '.oiv' installer &/or manual install instructions point to the correct install location.

    Alternative 'Highest patchday##ng' Replacement method:

Alternatively, you can place any vehicle model/texture files within the 'vehicles.rpf' within the highest 'patchday##ng' that you find a 'vehicles.rpf' in, whether the vehicle exists there by default or not & that location will override all others in the game. At the moment that's 'patchday28g9ecng':

    ...\Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday28g9ecng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf

The 'patchday28ng' 'vehicles.rpf' will also work for all other vehicles apart from the cyclone2 (which is in 'patchday28g9ecng' by default & would override any cyclone2 files placed in the 'patchday28ng' 'vehicles.rpf' etc). Either location should work for banshee files if using this method (but if one doesn't, try the other etc).

    Future Rockstar Updates:

For both replacement methods outlined above, if Rockstar updates the vehicle model/texture files in a higher numbered patchday##ng (say, patchday30ng if/when it's released etc) that vehicle will revert to default/vanilla. All you need to do though, is move the vehicle files to the new highest patchday##ng & they will appear correctly/replaced again.

    Other Vehicle Replacement Methods:

Alternatively, you can usually avoid that last issue by using a mod like EMF (Easy Mod Folder) which will allow you to place all your replacement vehicles in to it & keep them all in the same place while also overriding all other default install locations.
