Hair and Beard Texture Glitch on Replacement Character

  • I'm running the latest version of GTA V on Steam with all prerequisites up to date (OpenIV, ScriptHookV, ScriptHookVDotNet).

I downloaded the Dante Devil May Cry 5 Trevor Replacement mod: https://www.gta5-mods.com/player/dante-devil-may-cry-5-trevor-replacement

Everything was working just fine for a week. Yesterday, I installed NVE from Razed and when playing the game, the hair and beard textures on the Dante/Trevor Replacement model have glitched like they're missing textures or details:

I did a fresh re-install of GTA V and re-installed all prerequisites and ONLY the Dante/Trevor Replacement mod, but the issue persists and I am unable to get it installed back to full detail. Everything else about the mod is still fine, like the skin and clothes, just the hair and facial hair textures are messed up. I can't for the life of me figure out what is causing this, especially after a fresh install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I've grown quite accustomed to this mod and would hate to not be able to use it anymore.

  • @macmoosie keep reinstalling over and over again and maybe you'll get the desired result. Never trust a computer to do anything properly, they are designed to produce random results.

Or remove the cause you described by uninstalling NVE?

  • @JohnFromGWN as stated in the OP

  • @macmoosie But seriously, reinstalling is only useful when files are suspected to be corrupt, and this after a verify integrity.

The Dante replacement for Trevor requires 5 different steps and involves several locations with paths similar to other paths. This means going slowly and patiently with attention to detail and making sure all those locations are in the mods folder and not some in the vanilla folder. Of course you also need decent graphics hardware, hopefully not integrated, and the proper visual settings in game.

Dante replacement is my default and I've installed it over several mod folders, so I know the slightest mistake will result in garbage graphics.

  • @macmoosie It's because NVE modifying the hair and beard of protoganists. I can't remember where was the file exactly but search for player_two in OpenIV using Ctrl+F3 , make sure to search it in mods folder, you can maximize the window to see the paths better.

Find the player_two folder that is located inside one of the NVE's dlcpack.

Then delete the folders in it.

You can also delete the rpf that stores those 3 player_1,2,3 folders, just don't forget to delete the 2 rpf entries of it inside the content.xml .

I already deleted so can't check where they are located.

With all due respect, as I mentioned in the OP, I've been using the mod for a week and everything was fine until recently. I'm well aware how to follow instructions to install mods, as I've done so successfully.

@MissySnowie I'll give that a try, thank you for the help!

  • @MissySnowie Worked perfectly. Thanks so much! I had no idea NVE modified those files.
