This is what it looks like when a programmer starts using ZModeler...

  • I've been modding since GTA III and I never bothered to learn what it takes to convert vehicle models, so I thought I'd follow Madgaz's tutorials on YouTube and try it out. It ain't pretty...

Will keep trying some things out, but if anybody has some tips, they'd be much appreciated  I actually can't even enter the vehicle

  • start with bikes or aircraft. they are simple. less parts than vehicles. atleast your game didn't crash ! if seats are present. like seat_dside_f and the door has atleast one Lod0 after the default dummy. it should open.

  • @FoxtrotDelta Yeah I figured those would be easier! Thanks, I might try out a bike when I've got time. But I think you're pointing me in the right direction... I don't have any seat_ objects in the hierarchy. Most likely the problem!

  • @rappo yeah you need seat_dside_f and seat_pside_f , and collisions for wheels too , open you golf project , and then click on import and import a gtav car (let's say blista2) and take all cols from blista2 and use them for your golf :)

Madgaz videos are good but a little bit old , you should use video from Game68240 :)

@rappo great at first start my first mod still installed in my game that one is a waaaaaay better than mine trust me lol best method is to keep the hierchy as it is and start with the car part like bonnet boot bumpers then doors other things just move them to exatc place on moded car like door handels and seats nods if you need some explication just text me any time ;) i doing that with every moder who ask me.

  • One thing I do is import a gta 5 vehicle, and replace each part and adjust stuff like handles and seat positions. It makes the process a lot easier. I thought about making a tutorial on how to convert because there are a lot of russian tutorials but hard to understand.

  • Well, you know, progress!

  • @rappo Still better than me... But we all have to start somewhere.

  • I'm in!

  • Yea~ nice job! even door angle is very nice!. Wheel textures need to be changed though. material problem i guess? most likely Adaptation problem. :saxophone:

great we see the progress going forward :100: no one born walking ;)

  • @rappo how is it going?

  • @FoxtrotDelta Kind of stopped for now after that last screenshot. May pick it up later again, but I never really expected to become a vehicle converter - just wanted to try it out!

  • @rappo haha. okay. its good to tryout new things. learning new stuff is nice. now you know how it looks like. and feels like :)

  • @rappo link to the video tutorials, i would love to learn but i cant find any in English.

  • @maybach123 I used Madgaz's tutorial, here's Part1:

Some users told me it's outdated and there are better ways of doing things but it was a good starting point. When you get the basics down, it seems like the community here will be able to help you become an expert

:grinning: Much appreciated i have always wanted to do a little more than skins. also does this work the same way for converting from say forza to gta v?

  • @maybach123 I'm not really sure about Forza, someone else may have better insight into that. I think that you will have a lot more work required if you're converting from another game because all the pieces of the model won't be named the same way that GTA requires, and they may not have all the LODs either.

  • @mayback123 @rappo basically the same but a Forza car requires more work because theres a LOT more parts that have to be connected and cut and textured than say a gta iv or gta sa model

Lol, I know the feeling, man. I remember trying convert models from Bioshock and Halo 3. Never did finish them either.
