  • @HenryTux Do you plan to propose a full scavenge option going to ammo/food/water etc to thing like Metal / Wood / ciment / etc that could deserve to something if you add a shelther/camp building option to build our own base (I mean some minor thing like garden (to get food supply), infermery (better health) , destructible wall destructible barricade, fence, tower, workshop (to get ammo supply with metal scavenged around the map), bed, Zombie TRAP )

    This with a good base defence, that we could manage, and where the difficulty could be set in function of the number of survivor we bring to the base (survivor that we could assign to defence, garden, workshop, etc)

    Would just be awsome and give some persistence to zombie mod xS

    Anyway it sound already good ;)

    Attaboy! Cannot wait to see that in-game! hahaha tbh, base building is not a priority although we will consider giving it a shot after the basics are well implemented. Unfortunately, the game engine was not designed for that, but making use of community Map Editor maps will be also recommended. Have in mind that huge bases will have an impact in the performance of the game too. Boomarked ;)



  • @HenryTux sure I understand about that but I don't talk about a huge base map (not like 1400 + prop ;P), a base could be limited to 100-400 object it would be enough and almost everyone could enjoy it without fps drop

    Also if you if you want give it a try, I can give you some object name and build some stockade/wall and build with a ped inside ( I don't think an object can be targeted by ped idk, but I can still, with menyooo , add ped attached to the building/wall/etc (hided sure ;P) set his life to define the build life, and may you could make your zomb attack him > so once ped hided and attached to a build die, launch a fx of collapse and make the build dissapear.
    In this way we could set funny camp ( NOT GROUND, only few wall, tower, garden, workshop, garage, shelter, electricity generator, water recuperator, TRAP (like fire, elec, turret maybe ?) etc
    and it could bring much more persistence to this kind oof gamemod with a different gameplay depending the area we choose. Also it could encourage the player to scavenge the map to build/rebuild ;)



  • @Shaezbreizh I really like your suggestions already! I have little experience with custom building using props and objects to be honest. Any help you can provide to this project is more than welcome. I encourage you to build up some custom base models you may come up with, post pics here, and we all here (devs and players) will discuss about your proposals :) you up for it?

    -Most infected should walk slowly, but rarely will one be able to run
    -If too close to a zombie and it can see you, they will grab you and you won't be able to move unless you press a button to push back
    -An infection system, that can be toggled. If an infected bites you then you will be infected and will have to find a remedy.(They could be found in ambulances sometimes)
    -Growls coming from the infected(varies from loud to quiet)
    -Infected Types:
    -Scratcher: Just a simple punch or swipe
    -Biter: Will grab and infect the player
    -Runner: Can run and maybe leap
    -Screamer: Will scream if alerted and will attract more infected to the player

    Keep it up, you've got me intrigued and excited for this! :)

    I'll build thing like Wall / Planter / WatchTower / Water Recuperator / workshop / kitchen / Elecgenerator / solar panel / wind mill / trap (i've some in mind need to make some test) / Shelter / stockade / Gates / Infirmery / Garage / and some other (if you've any to suggest you're welcome) with a ped in it , all that with menyoo attachment option ( hope it's ok for you and that you'll be able to someting with this else say me ;P)

    As mentioned in the Trello and the topic itself, there will be quarantine zones where you will need gas mask to avoid intoxication. The same mechanic will work for infected as well, triggering a status effect, just like you suggested ;) We will consider different types of zeds once we make sure the AI is working properly with the basic behaviour :D Stay tuned and don't hesitate to follow us on Twitter or check the Trello for more info

    Well I've already mapped most of the building
    I just don't know if it's better to make the attachment with or without the ped in the building

    with ped the building can be killed but it make the building move a bit (it's fun ;p) and it's not exatly plane if the ground is not flat
    without ped (only object attached together) the building is perfect but Idk if I can make it destructible (I don't use menyoo often ;S)
    So if yoou could just give me some suggestion about that it would help me to finish

    About what I already build
    There is some trap like fuel / elec pilon / elec fence / wooden/metal spike / barbed / etc (Will try to make more) and they seems to all work xD
    Some building (with ped in it till you answer me what you prefer also may you prefer add the ped yourself or work in an other way) like Tower / a Basic Shelter (I'll make a better one) / planter (with or without veg/crop) / some Wall ( and defenssive wall) / a Water recuperator / a generator / some gate / etc
    Will try to do more so if you've suggestion ;)

    Also idk if your mod is going to modif the map (use prop) so idk what kind of detail level I can permit (for exemple a wall is like 5-10 object / Shelter is around 30 / a trap can be between 5-15 etc), may I could add trash thing to reflect the world chaos (like add head on spike, barbed oon building, sand sacks, etc ) but it will eat more prop on the prop limit ( the max prop limit is around 1500 - 2100 prop depending the config, the old pc can some time have a lower limit ) so just say me what you prefer .

    A zombie outbreak? In LS? Woah...that would be awesome! Great idea Aprath. I'll look into it, your suggestion will be added to the Trello asap



  • @Frazzlee the idea of this mod is to use external mods as least as possible. That means, there is no need to install mod trainers, for instance, to change the player's character: this mod will show a character creator/selection screen (maybe similar to the Online's lineup) when you run it ;) I cannot guarantee it tho



  • This would be quite an impressive piece of work if you manage to create all this stuff, not for me but definitely be amazing

    Well, mate, do you think mod menus were made as if by magic? There is some coding, time and patience under the hood. If a mod menu can change the character appearance, this mod can too, don't you think ;)

    Sorry by external I was thinking outside of the game folder, like external mod menus e.g. Force, but everything else apart from mod menu is going to be internal to the game?

    Haven't heard about Force before. This mod will be installed in the same way as any other script, drag&drop in the main directory or "scripts" folder.

  • @vitinskb I'm not expecting players to make use of complex menus but to focus on the survival experience. Don't worry about the keybindings ;) I'll also try to implement the mod with controller users in mind. Thanks for the call out anyways

  • @HenryTux I'm sure you already know of this but there is a mod that turns the peds into zombies. If you want to make then look like zombies that's going to take a lot of time. Also, there are sites you can see how an actual zombie outbreak (or any other epidemic) would spread through the world, use that for a more believable story. Bugs would also turn people into zombies through bites.
