DLC Installation - edit extratitleupdatedata.meta???
I have little question - if I install DLC - should I edit extratitleupdatedata.meta file?
In some DLC instructions is order to add lines to extratitleupdatedata.meta, in other is info only about adding line to dlclist.xml
What is the proper way to installing DLC?
@figer Just editing the dlclist.xml is enough.
@Akila_Reigns then - for what is extratitleupdatedata.meta file?
Why in some descriptions is info about adding lines in this file?
@figer TBH, I really don't know what it actually does. Hopefully someone will answer.
I never add the extratitleupdatedata line, and add-ons work just fine. You can try yourself.
@figer From what I have seen from another modder, that file is used by Rockstar so that they can update small segments of a dlcpack without having to download the whole pack again. The example I saw given, was if they needed to change just a single meta file, for a vehicle's handling for instance, they could do so.
It has no purpose for any mods that users create... at this point in time anyway.
@LeeC2202 I still remember you did the same question to me long time ago
@figer As @LeeC2202 said, is a file used by Rockstar and his main function is the same as the "dlclist.xml" does, but just to load the folders that are inside "
/update/update.rpf/dlc_patch/", where Rockstar modified and added the new ones from any DLC located in "
/update/x64/dlcpacks/", just to avoid to download the whole DLC again. (
Remember: New files in "
dlc_patch" will replace old files at "
dlcpacks" with the same name+extension.
You don't need to modify that file never. If someday Rockstar adds a new patch to the first path mentioned above, then you'll need to replace the old extratitleupdatedata.meta file with the new one. But remember, mods won't need to use this file.
@Reyser That's true... I did. and now I spread the wise words of the master of the addon.
Thank you for clear explanation.
End of topic.
