Are tagged/mentioned users in an edited comment notified?

I am never quite sure if this works or not but am always wary of double-tagging people. I know that if you post a new comment, any tagged users get notified that they have been mentioned but what if I post a comment, then a while after, I edit that comment and tag/mention a user.
Does that cause a user to be notified, or does it get ignored because it is just an edit?

@LeeC2202 Try it, mention me on the main comment of this topic editing it to see if I receive the notification.

@LeeC2202 Nope, I wasn't notified. I'm pretty sure that's why when @Akila_Reigns mentioned me before I didn't received any notification.

@LeeC2202 The problem is I don't get a notification anymore when someone tags my username. No matter edited or not.

@Akila_Reigns That might explain why I wasn't getting notified about all those free games that were up for grabs... I thought it might have been this editing problem causing it... but maybe it was a more general notification problem.

@Akila_Reigns Yes but the problem was when you're editing an existing comment tagging someone.
