    To those modder who can not successful making wipers work, Please try this step:
    After you finished to set all wipers, dummies and collisions, Click file, import cuban800 once~~
    Then leave it, you don't need do anything about this cuban800, just import, that's all.
    Now, you can export your car, check it in the game.

    I believe it works.
    Already 4 people tell me this.

    About the rotation angle, during the step 1 of modify axes. we need choose Local, then click "X", use rotate tool, rotate X axes in some angle.

    And this angle is control the agle of wipers open.

    Hey guys, I forget to tell you one thing.
    A car has to has 2 door hatch, the wiper may not work if there's only one door hatch.
    I thought all the cars have 2 wipers, so I didn't mention this at the beginning.
    Well, I guess I'm wrong, there are some cars only have one wiper.

    In this case, you can name this only one wiper as door_hatch_l, and for another one, try to scale it, make it small, and hide it in some place one your car.

    And here I say it again:
    To use the wiper, you have to remember 2 things, one is script and 2nd is wiper model.

    For one, you need make sure install the car wiper script into the gtav/scripts folder.
    And Most Important thing is: script hook v has to be the latest one, which is 1.791.2
    and script hook v .net has to be the latest one, which is 2.92.
    and netframe 4.5.2, visual c++ also need.

    For 2nd, watch the tutorial carefully, do exactly what i done in the video.
    Make sure the name of door hatch is right:
    door_hatch_l and door_hatch_r

    make sure the properties of door hatch dummy is right

    make sure you have put collision file under the door hatch.

    As my tutorial video is in chinese language, so I start this topic and try to make you guys understand how to create car wipers.

    [Short introduction]
    Hi everyone, this tutorial will teach you how to create car wipers on the vehicles in gta5. It's very simple, here I give you guys two tips: 1. you need name your wipers as "door_hatch_l" and "door_hatch_r"; 2. you need script from my friend MentaL, here is the download link for script: https://www.gta5-mods.com/scripts/car-wipers

    This afternoon, I added the wipers on my another car, proton satria.
    And here, I share my 2nd wipers to you, so anyone who has interest can study it.

    [Main content]
    Car wipers needs two parts: 1. script: car wipers; 2. model.

    First important thing, you have to download the script"car wipers" and install it in the scripts folder under the gtav roots, I believe you know where it is.
    For the script, you don't need do anything on it. just install it, that will be done.

    Second important thing is the model, which is car wipers in our case.

    1. You have to separate the wipers from your car model first, then we get 2 wipers.

    2. next step is create 2 dummies in ZM3, name them as "door_hatch_l" and "door_hatch_r";
      or, you can just duplicate 2 doors from the gta5 original vehicle model, like: door_pside_r and door_dside_r. then you rename them as "door_hatch_l" and "door_hatch_r", and of cause, you also need change the collision name of them, as "door_hatch_l [col]" and "door_hatch_r [col]"

    I recommend second way, it will save a lot of your time.

    1. Dismiss the door_pside_r and door_dside_r, which you already named as "door_hatch_l" and "door_hatch_r", then we will get 2 dummies and 2 models (old doors from the original vehicle), delete the old doors, keep 2 dummies.

    Let's leave them for a while.

    1. Back to our car wipers, which you separated from your car just now.
      use move tools in ZM3, remember to check "move axes only", move the axes of car wipers in right position, where is the center you want wipers rorate.

    2. Choose duplicate tools in Display section in ZM3, copy the axes of car wipers to the dummies and collision files we took from the original vehicle.

    Then you will see the dummies have been moved to the car wipers, and same of collision files.

    Tips, click the arrow in up-right corner of display section, un-check keep object, then the model of collision files will been moved, not just axes.

    1. Make sure you close the L0 and Col, then select the dummies, make them as a compound.
      Click the L0, now. put your car wipers into the dummies, as L0 level.
      Then we get the car wipes as "door_hatch_l" and "door_hatch_r".

    2. use rorate tools and move tools to adjust the angle or postion of your car wipers, make them has better result.

    3. Do not forget isolate the door_hatch_l or door_hatch_r, and close the L0, then go to properties panel, set your axes and double click the user define options, set the angle you want wipers rorate.

    4. And my quick text tutorial is done for now.

  • This is great! And what about creating a script that allows to raise/lower the roof of a convertible car? For example, a script that moves and/or rotates every part of the roof (for example roof1, roof2, roof3) in the right place ... I have made the correct animations for some of my car mods, but I cant put them into the game!



  • can you export and share the yft file only with wipers, so we can have dummy and cols? i just tried it on my car, but the wipers move (weird) only when i drive

  • How do you make sure they rotate correctly and not through the window? I want toad this to my car, but I think they will rotate incorrectly because this car's windshield is curved



  • @FilipJDM you have to try several times, then you will find right angle and position.
    I can tell you that I tried more than 60 times to finish this wipers. -_-!!!

    when you adding the wipers, think about the way of move of real wiper on the car.

  • @Yoha Hi i have create the wipers how your Video and the Text but ingame is it not working. the Wipers swing with the Car wen i drive fast left or right but she not wipe. The scripts are complet with Folder on Mainfolder from GTA5. I have test it with only the DLL and ini too but nothing. Any Chance the become a unlockt file with only the working wipers so that i can look and und make it on my Mods? Have i install the Sript right? or Must the Car i a specific Path? I hope you can help me. Thanks

  • @solo First, the script has to be put into: "steamapps/common/gtav/scripts/", not "steamapps/common/gtav/". And if you are using old script, please update the script from MentaL, he updated the script to 1.1.

    The wipers have to be named as: "door_hatch_l", "door_hatch_r", and they need collision file.
    Set right axes, and right angle in user define option for dummy.

    About my wipers, you can find the link in the [shot instruction], I've upload the Z3D file.



  • @Yoha i have a DVD version of the Game. yes i have named this. i have copyed both front doors and use this dummys and how i sayed the wipers ar swinging bit nort working with the script. and i have the latest script load here.



  • @Yoha i think the problem is the script or the path from the script. i have merged for test your wipers and with this i have the same problem. only swinging wit fast driving but not work.



  • @Yoha i not understand this. your car (the railant) work but my work not. When i export the Car with your Wipers (and with my wipers the same) i become this Error: Unknown object name "door_hatch_l". Using random ID: it might not work correctly in game script. Unknown object name "door_hatch_r". Using random ID: it might not work correctly in game script.
    Exported all lods...... What i must do all that it work corectly?



  • @solo later this afternoon (Beijing time), I will update my another car: proton satria. I will add the wipers for it. After I finish the update, I will share the Z3D contain wipers and a little part of car again, you can download and research it later.

  • @Yoha hi iam now sure it is an export problem. i have load your marbella and test ingame it work. i have renamed as police, add it and it work. so i import the marbella to zmod move a lightbar to the car and export it. and now the curios. when i spawn the car the wiper DONT work. only swinging. the same is mit your satria file. when i merge this to my the same. not working only swinging. So iam now very confused what i can do that it work.

    Sorry guys, I forget to calculator the upload time...
    As I have to use VPN to visit youtube, the upload speed of my new video tutorial is very very slow.

    @Yoha I followed you tutorial but in game the wipers not moving they just swing all over the windscreen when hard turning the car any help ?? also when exporting the car message said in zmodler that bouth door hatches has invalide ID may not work in game !! any solution please workin on C250 update with you wippers mod

    door_hatch_l and door_hatch_r is belong to plane in the game, so ZM3 will show that message to you, tell you these 2 doors may not working on car.

    But actually, it works fine, you've already see the result. and there are more than 4 cars have been support the wipers.

    @ImNotMentaL i running zm3 3.1.1 works with all features
    @Yoha i cheked the names and rotaions values and collisions and and position of door_hatch_l witch is verticali and close enough to windscreen but nothing happend i have the last versions of all scripting requerments and i see a lot of modders having same issues like KoRn
