Is anyone aware of gtamodding.fr? RE-UPLOADING OF MODS
-
So I found this website they take mods from gta5-mods.com and re-upload them on their site. Here a few examples:
http://www.gtamodding.fr/mods/5907-dlc-add-on-vehicles-spawn-on-traffic.html
http://www.gtamodding.fr/mods/5844-cpr.html
http://www.gtamodding.fr/mods/5894-stairway-to-heaven-menyoo.html
http://www.gtamodding.fr/mods/5891-defibrillator.html
THERE ARE LOTS MORE LOOK FOR YOUR SELFThey give you credit with your username. At first you think its nice
Then you click the name and guess where it takes you..... http://www.gtamodding.fr/recherche.html?a=NotCrunchyTaco
It doesn't show my twitter, my skype, my steam, etc... doesn't even bring you to my gta5-mods profile. They steal your thumbnails and screenshots from your mod. Also another bad thing you click "download" and the download is hosted on their site and the download count goes on their site not 5mods. People put effort into their mods and they upload your mods on that site. I also state at the bottom of everyone of my mods "DO NOT RE-UPLOAD THIS MOD WITHOUT MY PERMISSION" I have not given anyone permission to re-upload my mods with minimal credit.After looking through some more.... I found out that others upload your mods on the site. So it is others uploading our mods on that site. So it's an auto-generated profile for you with no links to social media, or 5mods. The moderators of the website do not care that you re-upload mods on gtamodding.fr because this is the biggest source for GTA V mods. I am sure they are aware of this site. gtamodding.fr has lazy moderation and re-uploading of mods AKA stealing people hard work.

Also Gamemodding and GTAAll are another websites like this

@HeySlickThatsMe UGH
-
@NotCrunchyTaco Hit them with a collection of DMCA takedown requests. The mods are your copyright and presuming you filled in the required info in Visual Studio, that should be clear if you disassemble the mod.
They might have lazy moderation but failing to respond to takedown requests will soon get that dealt with. Also find who their site is hosted with and file an abuse report with the hosting company on the grounds of copyright theft... make some serious trouble for them.

Or... ddos the site lol

@HeySlickThatsMe @LeeC2202 Oh hey look what I found they support the uploading of mods you do not own
You can object a mod if it is yours. But I click it and it brings me here.....
-
@NotCrunchyTaco Well I guess that gives you the opportunity of making a really loud, publicly visible noise on their Facebook page, along with a threat to report them to Facebook for copyright violations.
-
@LeeC2202 Yes I could. I also have the proof because the upload date on 5mods of my mods is way earlier than on gtamodding.fr. I have gathered a bunch of evidence I guess I will take it to facebook!
-
@LeeC2202 I created this facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/gtamoddingfr-DMCA-Takedown-1583169135042836
I messaged them for support
-
@NotCrunchyTaco Well I suspect that is probably going to get their attention.

@Jonathan6506 Thanks for sharing
-
@Jonathan6506 I looked through the site and now I officially hate it!
-
@Jonathan6506 NO CREDIT ANYWHERE
-
@NotCrunchyTaco @Jonathan6506 If you take a look at any vehicle mod uploaded maniamods.ru site, you'll see on top of the description the respective credits.
I think they only add credits to vehicles and maybe some other kind of mods, but unfortunatelly not to your own Jonathan

It happens a lot and most of time... Well, too much stress to bother with tbh. I mean, most of the time at least the original author does get the credit and that's cool and all. I mean, I hate seeing mods being republished on some russian websites without any mentioning of name, but I stopped caring. Why? Because those sites only cater to a really small percentage of GTA modding base.
It's something totally different if they were to gain a lot of traffic/ad revenue/donations with this though...
