Playing singleplayer with MOD, playing online without

  • Hi all, is there a way to play singeplayer with MODs, and online without them in every moment?

I need MODs in SP, but I play online too. :disappointed:

  • @xLele From what I have seen, there are two ways to do it, a quick and easy way that requires a copy of your game folder and the slightly more fiddly way that requires a bit more manual work.

The first way requires you to have a second copy of your complete clean GTAV folder, which you call something like "Grand Theft Auto V - Online". You then have your second folder, with all your mods in, that you call "Grand Theft Auto V - Mods".

Depending on which version you want to play, you simply rename that folder to "Grand Theft Auto V". Only one folder can be called that at a time and you have to make sure you keep track of which folder is active, to make sure you don't go online with the modded version... but that way works fine.

The second way requires that you remove the files that allow you to use mods before you play and then put them back if you want to use mods again.

So a backup folder you mean?

Yeah, it could works. When I want play online, I replace the GTA V folder in "steamapps" and GG?

Kind of but you don't copy one folder over the other or replace it, you have them both in your steamapps folder and you just rename them. Steam will only ever run the one in the folder called Grand Theft Auto V.

  • @LeeC2202 I'm thinking having two copies is the safest way to play without getting banned. Who knows what R* might do next? They might add something to see if there's a folder called "mods" inside the directory to ban us in the future. ;)
